That Jan 15 open house is for O level student going to Jc1. The Ip open house usually happens in the 1st Saturday of June sch holiday as that will be the time that the DSA is opened for registration.

My Dd is in Year1 this year. She enjoys going to school so far.

What i can say is Tjc is not the top tier1 school for sure and its facilities are generally old as compared to other top ip schools. It is also not the usual 1st choice school for top students. However Tjc seems to be comfortable \"in its own skin\" so it does possess a very unique characteristic - possibly i would say the non-pretentious and down to earth.... in look and in its public relations....

So if you want your child to be in a prestigious school which everyone talks about or yearns to go.... or a school that was labelled as \"popular\" becos most ksp discussed most actively about...... then tjc is not the school. ....

Well said ksks, my sentiments too.

I haven't visited other ip schools or their open houses, and wasn't keen in ip programme either. But during TJC open house, what attracted me were the local and overseas job attachments, and the many community and humanity projects that the students would be exposed to.
And also, the very small intake played a part too.

To add furthur about another observation, last saturday tjc organised their annual \"go green\" Day. The whole school was out in the bedok neighborhood to collect old clothings and newspapers to raise funds for charity.

From the photos taken by my dd with her classmates on that day, i can tell all are enjoying the process very much.

Also to add another point that i observed from other postings in ksp forum that there have been questions raised by some \"concerned parents\" on why tjc ip is so low profile and whether it is losing its attractiveness to top students. Questions were also raised that tjc are having poorer O level cutoff points over the years and may appear to be no longer in the top league jc.

My take is we should not judge a school based on its publicity stunts or results. A good school needs not have the best facilities nor the best intake marks nor the best ouput results nor the most glamorous alumni. A good school is a place that your child enjoys the school environment, the friendship, the nurture and a place that your child strives.

Im not here to promote tjc or whatsoever, but to put my thoughts on how some parents tend to be too judgemental about what is considered a top school or a good school.

Looking for a secondary school really tough task.
There are many issues gonna to look into it. Such of distance journey etc..... so & so.
Oh btw, TJC any school bus provides?

We are not looking into any TOP schools. Well, of cause have to depends my DS PSLE results too.
We are thinking something good in discipline and down to earth school & teachers'. I think this is what I wants more.

Hi, i dont think tjc has any school bus services.

Actually bedok mrt is about 1km away but i think kids would not want to walk that much nowadays.

may note that the school confirmed that there is no school bus Transport service provided, in TJC.

Tjc does not have cca dsa as i think has a small enrolment. One has to clear the HAST test and interview for dsa.

I guess tjc looks at whether the student is well rounded in academic and cca.

Yes, best to visit during their open house.
Unfortunately, I missed their open school on 9th Jan 2015. :

Next Open house for TJC is coming May / June 2015, for P6 students.

The one held on 9 Jan 2015 : was for students who had sat for O level.
On 9 Jan 2015, Principal shared with students, seated inside auditorium -
- the contribution(s) made by past TJC alumni (from past 1980s to most recent 2010s) members to society in Sg, China, overseas.

- various CCAs in TJC, leadership role

- various subject combination available (H1, H2, KI, GP, PW, etc)

- student learning culture here, community work (eg : \"Go-green\" : where many Tr in the school & students all participated, together)

- Q & A

Then TJC students brought the freshie 16 year old : round the campus for a tour
