GEP 2010 - Screening & Selection

phankao:
no, not the twinning program between GEP/non-GEP
You mean the twinning prog? My son was in this, but the moment he opt out from taking HCL in p5, he was *out* of the prog. So, the provision is not perfect. He totally enjoyed his p4 year bc of the very interesting approach. Too bad it was short-lived.verykiasu2010:
MOE has a program for borderline gifted kids, so they won't lose out if they are in the right school .......i think MOE website has the info
why opt out the HCL? -

Can you elaborate on this \"borderline gifted kids\" thingy? -
CoffeeCat:

your child in P3 this year ? -
nah I am merely a very curious person, esp when it comes to education. Anyway how do they select the students for this high ability learner class anyway?

they have the SA2 results of P1 to P3 and also have details of the GEP round 2 results -

Oh well, my boy was put in this programme based on his GEP screening test. Opt-out HCL bc he is poor in Chinese, lah. Is that very unusual? But there is no high-ability programme available in their school for the Non-HCL classes.phankao:

Realised I am quite out of touch with current education system after pr. school. Can I ask if Chinese High School still exists or it is now called HCI? And for the Raffles family, gals will join RGS for 4 yrs and then move to RI (so RJC doesn't exist too?)? And boys will stay in RI for 6 yrs?HCI's integrated with NYGH. All girls join HCI for the integrated programme unless they want to transfer/do too badly that they took O levles.
Its not HCJC. Its HCI (College) -
dimsum:
hmm around 2005 hcjc and the chinese high decide to merge (after they offered the integrated programme) and be called HCI. Around 1-2 yrs ago RJC decide to do the same thing with RI and RJC is now called RI(JC).

So for NYGH & RGS, they are still part of the family but just doesn't want to merge. RJC exists as RIJC and rgs girls & ri boys will move to rijc to study.
Even after the merger i guess you can still distinguish them in terms of campus area. -

So from Sec 1-4, is HCI a boys' school or co-ed school?hmm around 2005 hcjc and the chinese high decide to merge (after they offered the integrated programme) and be called HCI.
