      Book Worm:
Hi.. can anyone advise on CCA.

Understand uniform group is compulsory as part of the CCA trials .
Assume an offer is given to student on uniform group which she has no interest in it, can she appeal for others? Thanks.
I don't think so. You can only appeal after the CCA allocation results are out and if you don't get any of your 6 choices. šŸ˜“

        Hello,

Can I know if there are mid year exams in RGS?
        Many thanks!

        Yes.

You can download the schedule from INet.

Actually, not exactly mid year exams.
RGS has TA (traditional assessments) throughout the year and one EYA (end year assessment). There are 5 TA days this year.

There should be a list on iNet, and most teachers also inform the students of the various tests/assessments for the year at the beginning of the year.

But not every subjects are tested at end of term 2, unlike the EYA. Many schools have tests for every subjects every 2-3 weeks plus exams. I like RGS TA structure. A few tests on the same day and there is no lessons that day. šŸ™‚

Need advice on the ranking of CCA choices. How does putting a Waitlist CCA ahead of a confirmed offer affect the confirmed offer received. Will we lose the offer if we place it as second choice.

Don't worry, you won't! Since you have already gotten the confirmed offer, you will definitely not lose it. Putting a waitlist CCA ahead is just to try and get the waitlist CCA. But if you don't get in, you will get into the confirmed offer CCA.

I am checking behalf of my neice who is from an average primary school but aspiring to go RGS. Her friends told her that she will be left alone just because she comes from average school. She is now scared but her marks are very good. We know she has high chance to go. May i know the culture of the school? tks

I was navigating RGS old thread in 2010 and was surprised to know that Girls Guide and Red Cross are popular with the girls. Was talking to one parent and was told wait list was super long as her DD is in wait list no 19 in Girls Guide. For judo, also popular in demand for this yr batch. No fracture no gain as one of the judo senior girls commented. I was totally .... dumbfounded :yikes:

I think a lot depends on her personality - is she the kind who makes friends easily? Is she very bothered by what people think of her? Joining in Yr1 should be easy in that everyone will be new, even if there are larger nos. from a few Pr schools. My daughter joined in mid-Yr2 and did find it a bit hard to break into the already-formed groups, but she did make enough friends to enjoy school life. By Yr3, she was completely at home. She is quite a social type though. Why not ask your niece to visit an open house and see what it's like?
