If that is the case, their toes would look ugly..... anyway to prevent this? From which grade would they learn this? :scared:
Blue Pearl:
[btw, my gal is putting on weigh and is there something liek the ballerina must maintain certain weight range? when heavy, tip toe-ing become more painful..
It is best to remain light weight especially when doing pointe, the toes need to hold the body weight...
Bleeding and bruises I heard is very common doing pointe!
Gr 6 - 8 has no pointe work but more on romantic style.... only intermediate foundation onwards that require pointe...
Pointe shd be in grade6. My gal has also put on weight..I guess inevitable when she is now 11 years old. Her thigh and calf muscles are quite thick too. I kept reminding her not to eat fast food and chips..these are heavily laden with salt content, and make her bottom looks big!!
-

any idea grade 1? as we havent got the date but was told sometime in April
Exam dates can be anytime from 1st to third week of April this round from what I understand. Teacher can specify the week they want but not the exact date from what I learnt from admin staff at the counter. For example my dd's teacher requested for a date after 15 April and our actual test date is 20 April. FYI. -

Last year my girl had short hair and teacher helped her bun it up. Teacher says it is better to bun it up so that it is neater and requested her to keep long hair for this year.on exam day -
if a girl has short hair, no need to bun up hair : ok ?
or still need to ? -
Oh My Gosh:
Remove the toenails, SERIOUSLY?! :yikes:The route to ballet is not as \"cutsy and fun\" seeing the cute girls dancing around. That's why many girls dropped out of their levels the higher they go. Below are some pictures (some can be quite gruesome) of blisters on the girls' feet when doing pointe. I know the mother of a girl who made regular appointment with her family doctor remove her toenails, so that pointe can be done better.
Ballerinas out there... you have my admiration :)!

dd thigh n calf r thick too.. sob but muscular.. not soft soft type..
I have the opposite set of problem, sighs. Ballet teacher says my dd is too skinny and that her upper body muscle is weak as a result. Hence she tend to look more wobbly and has advised her to put on more weight. Teacher say as they go up the grade, upper body, thigh and calf is muscular is better. I have been pumping her food but unfortunately she is still skinny, maybe due to the \"Jia Liao Bi\" genes in my family?! -
