          25+25+40 =90

          240-90 =150
          150/3 = 50
          Answer: 50 red pens

A group of 30 students attended a course.

18 of them attended the morning lesson and 24 of them attended the afternoon lesson. How many students attend both the morning and afternoon lessons?

                  Hi

                  18 + 24 ----- 42

                  42 - 30 ----- 12

Number of students attending both sessions ----- 12

You may wish to draw a diagram. Here's an example for a similar question.

                  Hope this helps.

                  Best wishes

                      Hi

Can anyone help to solve this problem ?

There are now 120 rambutans in two baskets. When 16 rambutans were transferred from the first basket to the second basket, the number of rambutans in the second basket was thrice the number of rambutans in the first one. How many rambutans were there in the second basket at first ?

                      Thank You

                        Hi ksoh3000

You may use MD, but it might not be necessary.

In the end, the number of rambutans in the second basket was thrice (3 times) the number of rambutans in the first one.

                        First basket ------ 30 rambutans

                        Second basket ------ 90 rambutans

16 rambutans were transferred from the first basket to the second basket.

Therefore, there were 74 rambutans (90 - 16) in the second basket at first.

                        Hope this helps.

                        Best wishes
