Heart attack over EL although I shouldn't have been too surprised. Just passed only. No change from when DS was attending tuition. Math Paper 1 was fantastic - never achieved such results since P1/2. No clue about Paper 2. Ok for Science Paper 1. No clue about Paper 2. Was absent from school today cos not well. Sports day tomorrow. PTM on Thursday so I guess will find out how badly he did for Paper 2 for those 2 subjects. Then it'll be another attack! :faint:[/quote]
Usually CA1 is tougher for kids cos the kids may not adopt to the new level they've attended, and school MAY set the paper toughter as a wake up call for them in order to prepare well for SA1. Likewise to CA2 and SA2. So not to feel too upset if your kids can't do well now. Important for this exercise is the find out which area the kids are weak and focus more exercises during school holidays and pre-SA1 revision. -

For Science, I always tell DD must ace paper 1 that is 60% if she aces that even if paper 2 (which is basically a mystery to all of us) is a just pass she would have gotten an A. Met her Science teacher last week and the teacher told me the same thing. Exam is about strategy and tactics as well, not just knowledge. -

I know Popular provides such a service.
Initially thought only that particular popular no stock. Didn't expect 2nd outlet also oos. For all publishers!

Her score for OE range from low 20s to high 20s. So overall she is in the high 80s to low 90s range. We are ok with that.
Her teacher was telling me to make sure DD knows her facts well. For MCQ do more papers to familiarise herself with the types of questions asked. According to the teacher, though there may be some variations but by and large, year after year, the questions are about similar. In fact pretty much the same for OE. The challenge is when kids answer in plain English instead of using the specific 'science' terms. -

This is a real killer...the science terms (key words) which markers are looking for, not just English. -
DS normally gets 50s for Science Paper 1. He loves to announce that he already passed this subject. So with Paper 2, he gets high 70s to mid 80s. Not this time so a little disappointed. We had to remind you again to be careful and not lose unnecessary marks in Paper 1.

DD2 fared badly this CA. Will need to roll up my sleeves more to see how else I can help her. With regular school hours, followed by remedial or supplementary and then CCA, topped with an obscene amount of homework, she's too tired to think straight.
However, she still tries to get our home revision done on days she is more free. Gotta appreciate her for trying despite her weariness. The hours she spends in school and at home for school, is really :siao:. So, I tell her to catch up on sleep when her schedule allows.
Hubs is extremely angry with her.
I wish I could do more to help her.
