All About Full-Time Maids

I would have loved to cancel my maids w/p and happily pay her airfare back but problem is if I do tht Im liable to pay the maids loan as per the agents contract.hi mummies!
Do you guys knows what happen if agency don't cancel the work permit even after you have paid the 21 days levy for your maid that was transferred out? Can employer go and cancel it themselves? I am aware some agency make you pay for the air-ticket for the maid if you cancel the work permit yourself. -

Sigh, eversince this maid came, my parquet flooring got so many scratches, my dvd, starhb set up box all in haphazard position after she cleans them, my alarm clock rings as she turned it on after cleaning it. Worst of all is that she rearranges my stuff when she cleans them!
Hi carebare,
I totally understand your frustrations. I can't stand these kind of careless maids. They are either clueless or just don't care. You might have to sit down with her and list down all your requirements in details. I've learned that you can't assume the they'll do everything the way we like it to be. What we consider common sense may not apply to them.
I was very pissed off with mine too when she first arrived. It was so frustrating that I had to tell her everything. Like which scrub/sponge to use to wash which type of pots & pans. The problem was exacerbated by her inability to communicate. She rarely asked us questions although we kept asking her to let us know if she's not sure of something. I've in fact drafted and kept updating a list of household tips describing in details how to handle various type of housework. So it will make my life easier when a new maid comes. -
Moonee, that’s the same thing as my contract. Hence, I raise that question of whether I m still liable after 21 days of paying the levy when the maid is tranferred out.
Carebear, maids with no experience is like that. They all display typical maid characteristics. My current Indo maid is a gem. She is only with me for 2 weeks but all my relatives already commented that my gal has put on weight. This maid is a ex-singapore. She has worked in Singapore for 4 years for 2 employers. I was hesitate to get her because she is very "old bird", thought would be hard to control but what the heck, I just went with it. Maybe next time you may want to consider getting ex-Singapore maid. I don’t have to train and say much to her. She can understand and speak chinese and a little hokkien. I hope she will remain like this for 2 years. keeping my fingers crosse!
At least now my blood pressure is normal. My previous Myanmar maid drove my blood pressure up the roof! -
moonee, btw regarding your maid’s case. Although its good to make sure she is not transferred to the next employer, you still need evidence to prove that she is the culprit. Do you have any spy camera at home? if there’s no prove then it may just be a waste of time on your side.
That’s why I feel that employers should write to MOM to limit the no. of transfer for maids. That’s the "REAL" solution to end problems like that. The more employers write in, the more MOM will look into it.
Think about it, girls! -
Hi minnie2004, thanks for the advice.
I have told her countless times, but it remains in status quo.
If i just overlook it and arrange it myself, at least i won't get angry. However, i can't take it when she misplaces something cos she arrange things her style, or disconnects the computer while i am downloading something which can take a few hours.
Hi peapot, i am glad you finally found a good helper. Btw my maid has 4 years experience in Malaysia, where she worked in a landed property for a family for 4 children. Dunno why still so blur?! -

My answer: Act blur.
Always feel that some of them are much smarter than they look.

Carebear, yes, they act blur. I had an ex M'sia, worked on landed property etc as well...still cut corners and love to snoop around.
So now, I've learnt my lesson. When there are tables/things I don't want her to touch, I tell her not to do so. Else, there's bound to be lots of unhappiness - yours, coz :frustrated: when things get re-arranged; hers, coz :whut: I do things for you still not happy wha?!? -

good for you, peapot....at last, you've finally waited for this day (translate in Mandarin please). :celebrate: Will keep praying for us both!Moonee, that's the same thing as my contract. Carebear, I think the best thing is that she can be super on to touch this and that or do ‘thing re-design’, yet my belief is that if you check some strange place (eg under sofa/corner of room), there’s probably a layer of dust…

The 2 maids I engaged so far have one thing in common. Everytime we look for something (eg nail clipper), and ask if she see it (we don’t say that she take it), the reply is usually "No m’am; I never see".
I really do wonder how they clean the house…with both eyes closed?
