just happened to saw this thread.

my gal was in 2010 and going to P1 in 2017. trying to figure out which school to go since im also a Sengkang resident, off yio chu kang.

Rosyth within 2KM
Nan Chiau within 2KM

both above seems no chance to be a PV. even im selected PV, it is not guaranteed.. backup plan is to look for catholic school since im a catholic, which most schools are more than 2KM.

Can I check if SNGS or Paya Lebar Methodist Girl school have any chance to register under 2B but i'm not within 1-2KM?

Hi Wendy,

It seems that u had no chance for Rosyth and Nan Chiau as both sch will be balloting within 1km under P2C.

As for St. Nick under P2B, it will be balloting within 1km so also no chance.

Lastly PLMGS, it seems ok to register under P2B even outside 2km for SG citizen

ERM: PLMGS priority in phase 2B is for methodist not catholic!! take note!!
Yes, correct

The \"M\" in PLMGS stand for Methodist mission denomination school, nothing to do with Catholic.
Catholic do not qualify for Phase 2B privilege at all, where Methodist schools are concerned.
Many parents attending the various Methodist churches, often target PLMGS or MGS. Yes, even those attending Chinese Methodist churches - their dd also eligible, qualify to enter.
Not just those from the English Methodist churches, only.
As you can tell : PLMGS, is highly sought after.

If want to enjoy Phase 2B privilege for Catholic, then should choose CHIJ schools, or Convent schools.

Maybe can consider Holy Innocents? It's in Hougang, so it's nearer than St Nic at Ang Mo Kio. St Nic, yes, can really forget it. Too hot!

Holy Innocent is a SAP school, but not super hot like St Nic. So maybe you want to explore 2 B in HI?

Hi everyone,

I’m a old student of Chongfu and I’m staying at Sengkang. I’m a SHHK member too also looking at Nan chiau but it will be phase 2B so the risk is higher … I need some advice. How is CF compared to NAn Chiau? Am also considering new schools like Palm view and north vista… Any feedbacks are welcome.

I live near Henry Park ( less than 1 km), tried for PV but they rejected. I also tried for a PV in another school ( rejected again). I have a son and went to a all girls school and my hubby’s school no longer exists. So no chance of getting my kid in earlier phases.

Some other schools here are not suitable due to second language issues. I had a look through the schools and found out that most of them have balloting in phase 2C. I’m very worried. If try Henry Park in 2C, or try a school more than 1km away, I may have to ballot and if I am not successful in the ballot, it will be 2C supplementary.

I am thinking of trying for PV in a few other schools that have PV available and perhaps moving to a different location to improve my chances. Don’t want to take the risk of going to 2C supplementary.

Does anyone know if you can apply to a more than one school at phase 2C? I am hoping I can try for a few school at the same time but register for whichever school offers me a place and is closer to where I stay. I don’t want my kid to travel too far for his primary school years.

You can only register for 1 school at any time, no multiple registration. Imagine the headache of the system if MOE allows every kid to register in a few schools :frustrated:

But what you can do is to check with the schools on updated available vacancies before you register. If you realise need to ballot, you may not want to register in that school. Having said that, it is a tedious process as vacancies changes up till the last hour of registration for that phase.

in Phase 2C or any other Phase -
you can only apply for ONE primary school.

Computer system keep track of your child's Birth certificate number / Registration number.
if attempt to enrol your child into another primary school :
computer system detect and alert P1 Registration Officer, who will then question you why you try to enrol your child into another primary school, when your child had already been registered, name captured by the system ?

normally, what parents do is on the LAST day of Phase 2C -
they monitor the numbers very closely, in a few schools that they are interested in.
after 2.30 pm onwards decide which school can give them the Highest chance of securing entry, preferably without balloting. Then go down after lunch and register.

For parents who wish to ballot at Phase 2C, must be mentally prepared that in the event of fail to ballot at 2C, will proceed next to enrol their child, into a Phase 2C Supp school.
Thus need to prepare Backup schools in Phase 2C Supp before hand, for those who decide to attempt balloting at 2C.

.

Your hubby's school might have merged with another primary school. Should call moe to check.
