All About Pre-school Math Enrichment

The general view is that you should consider the \"brain-training\" types if your child is < P1 and the \"academic\" types if your child is already in primary school. Super kiasu parents will sign up for both... but be careful of burning out your kid!
Any parents sign up both? Will the child get confused? Which is more effective? -

Hi Parents, I have a kid who is in K1 now and I cannot decide whether to send him for \"brain training type - ABACUS\" or \"Academic type\". I've phobia on ABACUS because I've sent my elder son for abacus class before at CC when he was in K1/K2. When he was in P1 I really got nightmare because he forgot the abacus formula and end up with wrong answer when doing addition and substraction. In the end I have to use my own method to teach him addition and substraction from the start. SCARY. Nowsday I really scare of sending my youngest son for ABACUS. Wondering for CMA ABACUS does the child has to remember all the formula? e.g +4 = -1+5. etc. Have anyone heard of D'SEED learning Centre located at the basement of Katong Mall? They have maths enrichment called Concept Maths for Kindergarten Students. Can some parents pls give me some feedback. Many thanks.
Can share how the abacus training that your child had in the CC? -

I am also looking at MPM in these areas.Does anyone have comments on mpm centres at bishan, thomson, toa payoh and amk?
I am thinking about sending my k1 son to mpm, but wondering which centre will be better? I know bishan and thomson are like one-teacher operation where the teachers open the centre and have one classroom only. what about centres at toa payoh and amk? thanks.

Have u concluded which center is better? -

As every centre operates on limited hours/days only, we chose one that's the most convenient in terms of time and location. You should take a look at every centre and talk to the teachers to find the most suitable centre for you and your child.

I just signed my k2 for mpm.
Can anyone advise which is a better option:
:?:
2 books (once a week) OR
1 book (twice weekly)
He enjoys doing assessment homework at home and is eager to let me mark them when i'm back from work.
He just did the diagnostic test yesterday. At the center when I asked him, he said he would like to come only once a week (not sure if he understands this means he has to complete 2 books each time) :!: -
Can anyone help to advise??
What is the different between the teaching method in
1. ENOPI
2. Math Hub
3. VIP Learning
I tot of enrol my son in the Critical thinking math (he is K2) and prepare for his P1 next year…
Thanks. -

Hi does anyone has any feedback on the MPM branch at Bukit timah Plaza?
Am thinking of enrolling my k1 girl for MPM but not sure if all the branches’ teachers are good. Anyone wanna advise me? I think I read somewhere that the Toa Payoh branch has good feedback? -
Hi jeanieg
My DD attends MPM in the West. As mentioned by some, their method is not about teaching during class. All levels are in the same class…its doing their worksheets, which seems interesting and at times challenging, practise practise practise and hopfully set them to think logically, in mathematical sense. She started in K2 last year and now that she’s in P1, we begin to appreciate where all these are leading to…its in line with what they are being taught in P1.
My view is that as long as the class size is not too big and that the teacher has an assistant to help, it doesnt matter which teacher. For me, location is more important as when they progress, its likely they need to attend twice a week (1 book each time) rather than once a week (cramp 2 books in 1 lesson) because it gets tougher and kids at that age, they lack the focus. Hope this helps with your selection…
