Periwinkle,
My headache will begin next year when daughter goes to P1.
I was recommended this assessment book 'Challenging English 4-in-1 by M. Rani. I get this book every year for my son.
As for past year exam papers, itβs rather early to start now. I usually print 2-3 copies for my son to practice after he has finished revising what will be tested. -

Only mentioned that she's disappointed DS didn't score for his maths as he got 100 last year in P1.
Was he the one who scored 100 for SA1 Math last year as well? Mrs Teo was my dd's math teacher last year too. She scored full marks for SA2. This year, cos of a question error in MCQ (Q 17), she lost 2 marks cos after making changes to the question, she did not change her answer to reflect the correct option.
Yes, also in the Tues class, yours too? Seems like they have a \"play\" coming up, they're choosing roles to act. My DS smartly chose the one with only 1-2 sentence of speech :rotflmao: which class is your kid in?
Smart move, your boy!
My dd is still deciding on her role. The one she had chosen and memorised earlier was assigned to the \"loud\" ones. She is quite soft-spoken. She is in Group 1 taught by Mr Renee and Miss Sahara.
I think I'll have to start \"training\" DH to prep DS for morning session so this lazy pig can sleep in  i'm so not a morning person. He will have to drive the kid to school since it's on the way.
Same sentiments. Haha...:D
Does any parent here experience frustration at the heavy peak hour traffic in trying to exit Pei Hwa Ave onto main road especially since many motorists don't observe the yellow box rules? Do you think we can write in to LTA to request a traffic light that operates during the school's peak hour (drop off and pick up timing, probably 30 minutes at each stretch). I notice many schools have this system or a traffic control warden to improve the traffic flow plus this seems a lot safer and prevents accidents.
That's why my DH gave up on picking her up last year. Hers was a single trip cos no vacancy for return trip then. My DH couldn't stand the jam and he couldn't leave his office so early everyday so end up picking her up later. Thus, by hook or by crook, we got her in for the return trip after the Jun Hols.
You think writing in to the school first or request the school to write in to LTA would be better? Just my opinion. -

Wonderful idea! When my dd was 5 - 6 years old, I printed out \"cute\" pictures to signify the various little tasks she has to do and pasted them on magnets and stick them onto her magnetic board. By looking at the pictures, she would follow the timings next to the tasks.
I will put up the schedule on a memo board so they can see how they fair against the planned schedule, hopefully they would be more motivated that way, since if they see that they are lagging behind, that wil mean no rewards.
After she got into the swing of things, it became easier. I had to let her go auto-pilot then cos my no2 was still a baby and I had to constantly watch over her so well...I guess being my eldest, she just had to learn to do things independently. Now, she's more blessed cos my no. 2 started kindy in the mornings last year and my helper will be around to keep an eye on the no. 3 (now 17mths). So, she has my full attention (almost) before she goes to school.
Basically, if you are staying home, there is a lot you can do with your kids if time is well-planned.

Blur mum here.
ds is in P1. When is SA1? -
Hi Prisnkc,
CA1 is Continual Assessment 1 (usually in March) from P2 onwards.
SA1 or mid year exam stands for Semestral Assessment (around May)
SA2 is held in October. -
Oops, I guess I did not make clear. I know SA1 is mid year exams. So, which week of term 2 will it be held?
My work is busy, thus I have to think about how to set his revision. -

DS did badly for SA1 last year, only managed 80. This CA1, also did badly again thanks to tons of careless mistakes :x
The one she had chosen and memorised earlier was assigned to the \"loud\" ones. She is quite soft-spoken. She is in Group 1 taught by Mr Renee and Miss Sahara.
Yes, same group! How did you know the names of the teachers? As usual, i'm super bochap
i hope DS doesn't fall into the \"loud\" ones!

Yes, I think should write in esp since I see so many \"near misses\" every evening, the buses have to dangerously force their way out everyday and there'll be loads of horns blasting from oncoming cars. Last year, a bus actually hit a car and poor lady was asking every parent if they witnessed it. -

You can refer to Spelling List for term 2. The weeks with no spelling (week 8 ) will indicate SA1. This is my own tentative schedule: end April - Oral. One week before main papers will be the papers 1 : For Pri 1 is sentence making. May re-adjust when the confirmed schedule is out. Can check website for updates of term two schedule, which should be updated soon, I hope. All the best!Oops, I guess I did not make clear. I know SA1 is mid year exams. Hi E3,
I was surprised when I received a practice paper where the a picture is given with 2 or 3 helping words. And my P1 girl is expected to make a sentence. She scored horribly as I was not aware that this is a requirement for P1! Gosh  , now I see from your comment that P1 will be tested on Sentence Making, I think we are in trouble. Is this part of the SA1 paper? And how should I practice with my girl? I checked the assessment books that she has, I dont hv any sentence making worksheets at all. Tks in advance for your advice.
