I flipped through their Workbooks and noticed that some grammar rules are explained in the books. Not sure it's primary practice or success. Probably the teachers will go through with them during the class how they should apply the grammar...
Yes totally agreed. In liftoff, there are lots of reading together as there are many new words to go through. However in success program, they are doing comprehension, composition, spelling, cloze, grammar all in the workbook.CK0917:
Any idea about Preparation for success? my boy is in K2, i wonder if it is due to his age that is why they put him under preparation for success, he completed his liftoff last year.
They are doing forming sentence & some composition.
I feel the class a bit dry, not too sure if it is due to the teacher or the materials, i look at the workbook, i also dunno how to coach him, except for the homework + spelling..
I especially don't like the way they do grammar. There is no exercise on the different tenses, capital letters, punctuation, nouns, verbs. But they are asked to do workbook that combined all these. I mean how do you expect a newly P1 to know all these.
I have spoken to his teacher about why is it not taught by topic. She told me that all along they teach everything together and it seems there is no problem as at the end of the day the children will learn everything. What do you guys think?
However I do like that they have started on composition (although I don't think Ds grasp the concept of planning a composition) where they teach the intro, body and conclusion.
And I agree that it's good idea to do compositions at Success 1. -
Any referral for Tiong bahru branch? Planning to sign up next week.

The staff at LCentral Holland sms me saying they are having Open House on 28 March and will be conducting Parents Information Sessions by a curriculum manager from their HQ. They will be sharing their programmes for P3 to PSLE from 10.30am to 11am; and N2 to P2 from 12.30pm to 1pm.
I am signing up both sessions to find out more about their programmes. Kiasu! =ć -

My boy is currently at JE branch, i ever consider Woodland branch as well since i stay in between. I think the JE branch staff are more helpful & flexible. I went Woodland branch for assessment, however, i sign up with JE branch. Woodland branch offered my boy launchpad, hence, we took up launchpad when we register. However, during end of the 1st lesson, my boy was \"upgraded\" to lift off by teacher Rebecca, i personally think she was good & detailed enough to pay attention to my son when he was in the 1st lesson, she took the initiative to ask my boy to stay back after the class to re-access him & put him at liftoff. But too bad teacher Rebecca went back to her home town early this year.
Teacher Stephen was good too, he is strict, yet those under him produces good result. Not too sure about other teachers. Hope this info helps.
Will pm you my son's particular & shd yr kid want to sign up for Lcentral.
Thks. -
