From one of the friend where have kid now in P4, she mentioned that now the P1 system had tone down a lot as compare last time when her child was in P1.
Maybe now P1 is like honeymoon period. Seem like not so much homework as at now compare with last time. -

Oh, i actually meant homework to be done at home - not unfinished classwork to be brought home to do. :? I better check with my girl...i always thought those were homework, and i expect more for Friday because of the weekend.
Like what we said, our children haven't had a lot of homework yet.
If you are referring to the actual homework, so far, my son only has a couple of times. For the whole of Term 1, maybe not more than five times. -

Hmm...maybe, as I used to hear comments from my neighbours that their children have more homework when they were at lower pri. Guess the school may have changed the teaching approach for P1 now. From one of the friend where have kid now in P4, she mentioned that now the P1 system had tone down a lot as compare last time when her child was in P1.

We'll see how it goes at the later part of the year. Personally, i prefer a bit of homework (1 o 2 pages only) - not so much of drilling them but just set a learning habit that the child spend 10-15 mins a day to do some work. If you add up the amount of work done at the end of the month, it can be very substantial. This is just MHO.
My girl used to attend Kumon maths till end of K2. I stopped all her enrichment classes at the beginning of P1 as I want her to settle well in her new routine first. I must say that Kumon daily worksheets has helped her progress well from K1 level to P1 level in 9 months. It also helps her to concentrate and pay attention in P1 class cos the worksheets has a standard time limit to complete hence she has to stay focus. I am considering sending her back cos her kumon teacher strongly encourages consistency in learning habit.
Some of you may not agree with me and yes, I am kiasu, if not i won't be here...

My son cannot concentrate for long...perhaps i should follow u and let him attend kumon to train him. :  -
Guess they may have follow MOE guidelines not to have much homework & scrap off exam like CA1, SA1 & CA2.
Ha.ha maybe we need to let our child attend more enrichment courses since the school is not giving more homework?

Well, you will be surprised to find out that some of the parents in KSP.com are not kiasu at all. What's more, they are GrandMasters!

I asked around the general office of RMPS & was told there is no BASC near the school. Just wondering if any parents here know of any good BASC near RMPS. Thanks!!

You may consider the BM central branch, the teachers are caring and they provide feedback, as often as you ask for it, or after every level he passes his test. There are not many students on Sat afternoon so this is a good time slot. But be prepared that your son may resist the daily worksheets in the beginning (abt 10 pages :!: ) and it increases after he attains the next level - not the pages but more sums in each page.
My girl used to bargain with me that she'll complete 5 pages 1st in the afternoon and the next 5 in the evening. I then added the time spent for the total pages and recorded in the daily worksheets. I then asked the teacher if this is acceptable and she advised that for a K2 to do P1 mental vertical addition up to 2 digits, this was very encouraging already. You'll see the progress in your son in 3-mths time, not only work wise but you'll be able to see him focus better, more self-discipline (cos of the standard time limit and some rules to observe in class) and positive learning attitude. Give your son a small reward( I told my girl the budget will be below $20 for anything she wants to buy) every time he passes the level test. I can tell you the satisfaction for both mother and child is priceless
