Hello :rahrah:Hi all, I'm new and hope to get some advice from you.
My son is in P6 and is taking PSLE this year. I wanted to sign him up for a creative writing class. Does anyone have any good recommendations to share? Has anyone send their children to Anne's creative writing classes? I came across her name when I did a google search and wanted to know more before I commit. Thanks!!
I recommend Monsters Under The Bed, they conduct creative writing courses. But they are different because they engage your child with fun activities like skits, make your child really want to learn and write. They will enjoy it very much. Check it out

Odd that you would strongly recommend MUTB here today (@ 11.28am), and yet ask in another thread if it's good today (@ 11.59am).Hi
SAHM Angelica here, I strongly recommend this place called Monsters Under The Bed, better than all other centres. My son went there once and he came back saying he loved creative writing and wanted to write more. Started studying writing by himself afterwards
Can check out their website

I have heard of them?
Heard that they are unique because they use creative methods like workshops and skits to engage child so that they will really like it and want to write...is it good? I want my child to enjoy learning -

There are many skills and techniques to writing a good composition but here's one of them! Hope it helps[Moderator's note: Topics merged.]
Hi All
Does any one have any tips to share on how to get their primary schooler started on developing Creative writing skills? Understand that they have to start writing simple \"composition\" during lower primary?
Ideally - would like to guide him myself without sending him for any classes.
Any suggestions/tips (websites, reference material, books etc) would be most helpful
Thanks!

Crafting Impressive Sentences - Primary School Creative Writing
(Don’t always begin your sentences the same old boringway!)
1)\tBegin with a NOUN
(Do not begin with the)
\tRaindrops rapidly hit my face as I ambled out in the rain.
2)\tBegin with an ADJECTIVE
(An adjective is a describing word)
\tNervous and excited, I took steady steps up onto the stage.
3)\tBegin with a phrase that tells WHEN
\tJust as the school bell rang, I dashed through the school gate.
\tAs Mrs Sally strolled down the aisle, I tucked in my shirt, making sure I looked smart and presentable.
4)\tBegin with an –ing word
\tHuffing and puffing, Bobby crossed the finish line as pride glimmered in his eyes.
5)\tBegin with a phrase that tells WHERE
\tSitting on the edge of my bed, I waited anxiously for the phone to ring.
6)\tBegin with an adverb ending with -ly
(Adverbs are used to modify verbs. They tell us when, where, how, in what manner, or to what extent an action is performed.)
\tSluggishly, I dragged my exhausted body out of the bed and down the stairs.
7)\tBegin with a Preposition
\tOn top of the refrigerator, my black cat, Olivia, napped peacefully.
All the best preparing for the exams!

:please:

English & Creative Writing for Primary School Kids -
Hi!
Anyone has experience with "The Write Connection" writing class?
Thanks! -
Hi mommies… I’m new to this thread. My son just started P1 this year.
I realised that he can’t write a proper composition. He’s with ICR currently @ hbf. But he finds the teacher boring. I’m thinking either switch school or switch branch?
Any comments? Suggestions? Currently i’m paying approx $50 per lesson. 1hr 30mins -
worried_mom:
What do you expect of him? Could you be expecting too much? P1 is a bit young to expect a \"proper composition\" if you mean something like a connected story in smooth, correct prose.Hi mommies.. I'm new to this thread. My son just started P1 this year.

I’m not sure what to expect. ICR is doing compo writing but he’s not interested. I’m not sure if other 7 year old are doing same?

Find out how and what they are teaching, and ask the school teacher what her expectations are. If it's very formulaic, it can be really boring. \"Creative\" writing should be more child-led, especially if the child is not instrinsically interested. I can write more later, but have to rush off now. -
Hi parents
Any one of you send your children to Lcentral for creative writing?
May I have some feedback/review please?
