      Dear tanof2,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand your concerns regarding the standard of our washroom facilities at Blk 134.

Right now, we do not have ownership over the common space shared with the landlord, which includes the washroom. Hence, we are unable to renovate it.

Do be assured that we will definitely maintain the cleanliness of the washroom! Our cleaner comes in regularly to maintain the cleanliness of the space. Should you have any more concerns, please do not hesitate to raise them with us via the centre's contact number πŸ™‚

      Hi Hermes,

We apologise for the experience you have had. Thank you for trusting your children to learn with us for the past two years. We hope to clarify some of the issues raised and will reach out to you to discuss how we can continue to help your children learn at TWC.

Since 2017, we have revamped our Weekly Spelling Test to help students achieve better vocabulary retention. By using different formats of testing such as mix-and-match, fill in the blanks, form your own sentences, peer-testing, reading aloud etc., we aim to help TWC students better retain new vocabulary they learn here. Research has shown that repeated testing can help bolster long-term learning. A notice was sent out to parents in January 2017 with regard to this curriculum improvement.

For all P1 to P6 levels, more 20 vocabulary exercises for each level have been completed with all TWC students. If you did not receive the worksheets, do let us know so we can provide them again for the lessons your children have attended.

We hold our teachers to stringent standards on the issue of taking leave and to the best of our ability, avoid any change in teachers.

We extend our sincerest apologies and will be reaching out to you personally to discuss how we can help your children. We would like to encourage you to raise any future concerns with our centre managers or supervisors directly to discuss how we can better help your children at TWC.

      Dear Irene444,

We are sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. We have since dropped you a private message and hope to share with you more about our curriculum, and how we ensure the quality of teaching, curriculum and marking at TWC.

While we acknowledge that qualifications make good indicators of how competent a teacher (particularly in his/her language abilities), we strongly believe that it is not the only indicator. Experience, aptitude, willingness to grow as an educator and to master one’s craft are some other factors that contribute to what makes a successful teacher.

Though a young team, the teachers at TWC have proven to deliver consistent improvement in results over the past 3.5 years. More than 70% of our students see improvement in their results within 6 months and 71% of the students at TWC scored an A and A* in the 2016 PSLE examination.

We also have stringent processes in place to ensure the quality of teaching at all 3 branches:

      - All our teachers are hired after strict interview process of 4 stages (vetting of resume for relevant experience, teaching & marking assessment, interview with teacher supervisors and management)
      - Teachers follow strict and consistent TWC teaching and marking protocols
      - Closely supervised in-house training for at least 3 to 6 months
      - We have teacher supervisors at EACH branch to ensure high quality of classes and continual training of teachers
      - Small class size of 6 students ensures that each individual child gets sufficient attention

Irene444, we hope this short explanation has clarified some of your doubts. We will be happy to get in touch should you have any more questions!

      Dear Cammi,

Thank you for sharing your honest feedback.

We deeply apologise for the situation that your child has experienced. This was due to some unforeseen circumstances in our teachers’ schedule. We do not take this lightly.

We hold our teachers to stringent standards on the issue of taking leave and to the best of our ability, avoid any change in teachers. We would like to assure other parents that this is not the norm.

In the unlikely event that we have to switch teachers, it is the protocol that the teacher taking over sits for the lessons to observe and build rapport with the students. The teacher handing over is also required to give both a comprehensive verbal and written handover of every child’s strengths and weaknesses. Teacher supervisors also help to ensure a smooth handover.

We extend our sincerest apologies again and will be reaching out to you personally to discuss how we can help your child learn and make effective use of the materials he has been given over the past 5 months.

      Dear Mum4everr,

Thank you for your honest feedback. We are glad to hear that your child has improved at TWC. We agree with you that the quality of teachers is very important. We will continue to work hard to ensure that each child can achieve his/her highest potential at TWC!

      MMM:
      Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place to post.

What is the going hourly rate for 1 on 1 chinese tuition for lower primary?

Teacher is currently enrichment school teacher and tried and tested type?

I have been teaching English and Creative Writing (Composition Writing) for about 6 years now. From home-based tuition classes, I have since expanded to a shop unit and trained dedicated teachers to help me groom young writers.

I used to charge up to $80 for one lesson for Primary School English/Creative Writing but now I have cut it down to $22 to $28 an hour since moving to a shop unit.

I still strongly believe in a small class ratio. With max of 6 students in a class, teachers are able to interact with every student closely and discover their strengths and weaknesses in the language. Most definitely, it helps to ensure that every piece of writing/composition is given detailed feedback. This helps them to learn quickly and effectively in the short 1 and a half hours in class.

We are located in Kovan/Serangoon πŸ™‚

      Hi All

Does any one have any tips to share on how to get their primary schooler started on developing Creative writing skills? Understand that they have to start writing simple \"composition\" during lower primary?

Ideally - would like to guide him myself without sending him for any classes.

Any suggestions/tips (websites, reference material, books etc) would be most helpful

      Thanks!

There are many skills and techniques to writing a good composition but here's one of them! Hope it helps πŸ™‚

Crafting Impressive Sentences - Primary School Creative Writing

(Don’t always begin your sentences the same old boringway!)

      1)\tBegin with a NOUN
      (Do not begin with the)

\tRaindrops rapidly hit my face as I ambled out in the rain.

      2)\tBegin with an ADJECTIVE
(An adjective is a describing word)

\tNervous and excited, I took steady steps up onto the stage.

3)\tBegin with a phrase that tells WHEN

\tJust as the school bell rang, I dashed through the school gate.

\tAs Mrs Sally strolled down the aisle, I tucked in my shirt, making sure I looked smart and presentable.

      4)\tBegin with an –ing word

\tHuffing and puffing, Bobby crossed the finish line as pride glimmered in his eyes.

5)\tBegin with a phrase that tells WHERE

\tSitting on the edge of my bed, I waited anxiously for the phone to ring.

6)\tBegin with an adverb ending with -ly
(Adverbs are used to modify verbs. They tell us when, where, how, in what manner, or to what extent an action is performed.)

\tSluggishly, I dragged my exhausted body out of the bed and down the stairs.

      7)\tBegin with a Preposition

\tOn top of the refrigerator, my black cat, Olivia, napped peacefully.

All the best preparing for the exams! πŸ™‚

      Hi all,

Scratching my brain on what is the best way to teach my P2 girl English creative writing. Had got my girl some model English composition books and also tried to guide her on composition writing. But her writing style still proved very weak.

Any sharing of how you coach your kids on creative writing? If need to out-source, may I check which are the good learning centres for creative writing?

      Thanks.

      Hi Mummy,

I have been teaching Narrative Writing for a few years and here are a couple of suggestions for you! πŸ˜„

      - Reading with him & encouraging him to read widely

      - Learning Simple Writing Skills such as Show-not-Tell, using your 5 senses, Ways to say \"Said\", \"Run\", \"Walk\" and ways to start a composition
(You can do a quick search online to find, there are many resources available)

      - Keep encouraging and putting positive remarks on his writing πŸ™‚

      Here's an example -
