I got a reply from Pathlight informing me that I am on the wait list. At the same time, I have applied for DS to join Phase 1 of a mainstream school.

since you had already applied for DS to join Phase 1 of a Mainstream primary school, let him try out Mainstream first

otherwise, if Pathlight offer & accept your son after all the screening tests done, but you reject Pathlight because still prefer to let yr son try Mainstream, & next time one day if really need to go back to Pathlight, they may not consider him : since rejected before, they may prefer to give it to someone else instead. It is better to leave a back door exit open.

Perhaps reply Pathlight politely & honestly that at this point in time, u wish to hold back first, as u intend to let your son try out Mainstream first, under Phase 1 sibling.
if you don't let your son try Mainstream, you won't know. As you have been praying, ask God to lead you, one step at a time.

When did u apply for pathlight? I thought your child is 09baby? U mean u already did iq assessment n submitted all application n went for pathlight assessment? I remembered that you rejected arc last year.

My child is going for iq assessment soon then will submit the necessary docs.

Applied Pathlight 3 weeks ago. My son is 2009 baby. IQ test was done along with the formal autistic assessment test. The hospital’s social worker volunteered to assemble all the documents. I just signed a few things and she submitted the application. Part of her job, I think. Ya, I rejected ARC pre primary last year bec no transport solution. Pathlight merely acknowledged my application. They will call me in for an assessment soon.

Is yours due for P1 next year?

Was at a similar cross road couple of years back, so can understand the anguish.

I think at a junction like this, there is no scientific or rational analysis that we can fall back on, cos there is no clear right or wrong, no clear good or bad.

So ask yourself the next question: what is your gut feel? Then follow the lead from there. But dont let the 'what ifs' distract you. There is only one path - moving forward. Whatever is destined is destined.

Are u not allowed to apply for mainstream if u are on wait list? Who knows how long the wait list is... My take is to just apply for main stream first. If Pathlight takes too long, just go for mainstream first. When a vacancy is available, then u can consider that.
