Are u not allowed to apply for mainstream if u are on wait list? Who knows how long the wait list is... My take is to just apply for main stream first. If Pathlight takes too long, just go for mainstream first. When a vacancy is available, then u can consider that.
I think can. So I applied both mainstream and pathlight. At some point, I think I have to decide and eventually drop one.....

My dd is also going p1 next year. Finally I feel more excited than worried. When my ds went p1, I was so worried. Will he know how to behave in class? Will he roll all over the floor and takes off his shoes? Will he tell the teacher when he needs to go toilet or dash out on his own? Will he run away? Haha. 船到桥头自然直.

Then hopefully Pathlight offer will come a little later? Then u can try out mainstream and see if he can cope with it. If can, then no need to go Pathlight. But if cannot, Pathlight is still an option to go. I read on their website that their assessment is in June. Are u invited for that? If the waitlist means there is already enough pp to form the p1 cohort next year, then I guess it means it will depend on the drop out rate next year. There may be some who can't cope with Pathlight and needs to drop out to go other Sped schools.

Things will work out eventually. Even if it's tiny baby steps. Mine urinated in the parade square during the ceremony in P1. Or was it P2? :slapshead:

So glad the teachers didn't suggest for him to leave the school then. Hahaha.

Today went for RDI assessment. Based on current level, consultant think he is not ready for p1 next year. She let me do registration first then decide whether defer him in Nov. Sign!

                    Phtthp,

Good point on the rejection part. Still weighing my options.

                    Jme,
Applied Pathlight 3 weeks ago. My son is 2009 baby. IQ test was done along with the formal autistic assessment test. The hospital's social worker volunteered to assemble all the documents. I just signed a few things and she submitted the application. Part of her job, I think. Ya, I rejected ARC pre primary last year bec no transport solution. Pathlight merely acknowledged my application. They will call me in for an assessment soon.

Is yours due for P1 next year?
Yes n I have also submitted phase 1 application form for the mainstream though my first choice is pathlight.

Personally, I find that there is no problem with deferment if this is going to be beneficial for the child. Where I am, I see a lot of parents who deferred their children for 1 to 2 years, and that decision has really helped their children grow. Having said that, you would have to consider what to do with your child during the year of deferment.

If you are two minds about the consultant's recommendations, then maybe deferment could be the consideration. However, if you are really sure about your child and feel that you have strong grounds to reject your consultant's recommendations, then you would have found your decision.

One step at a time. Hope this helps. Good luck! 😄
