Thyroid disorder
-
If I remember correctly, there was a growth in her thyroid, so the doc advised the removal. But I thought she could use a second opinion.
In most cases, hyperthyroidism is treated with long-term medication. I don’t find it too bad. The pills are tiny and hyperthyroidism can be fully treated, so there’s hope. It is not terminal and doesn’t cause too much inconvenience except that I find wearing black and dark colours makes me feel intolerably warm now. But that’s all right. I do find that my temper is short and feel the fatigue but I just have to live with it.
I don’t feel like a patient except for the need to take medicine, but it’s just once a day. -

at the moment, my inconvenience are:
the need to visit a toilet more frequently
need to bath at least 2 times a day
sleep in lower aircon temp
electricity and water bill sure go up. -
Yes. Yes. Yes.
I do the same. Bathing up to 4 times is not uncommon. Sometimes after 12am, I feel so warm I need to wash my hair too even though I know it’s not a good practice to wash hair after 8pm.
My air con is set at 21 degrees and even so, I need a cold pack to be placed under my body (the part that is in contact with the bed) to feel comfortable and allow me to go to sleep. If not, I would be changing my place on the bed too often. -

I only knew that I have this condition a few weeks ago. I am into my 4th week of medication. I don't think it's as under-control as those who have been on medication for half a year

The doctor said it will take about 2 to 3 months to see the effects of the medicine ie. no tremors, no feeling hot etc.
Are you on medication already or waiting for your test result? -

The doctor prescribed 3 medicines - Propanol to slow down the pulse rate (mine was 130 this morning at the clinic, maybe I was nervous?), Thyrozol (to treat the thyroid) and a supplement Selenium (to help with falling asleep).
She ordered 4 blood tests this morning.
The ultrasound scan showed inflammation but no growth or lump. The phlegm issue was to be examined as well. -
Mine is a GP who gives me Camazol. Wonder what the difference is.
My pulse rate was 120/min prior to taking Propanol. The last I checked, yesterday, it was 70/min. -

For how long did you take Propanol before the pulse rate becomes normal?Mine is a GP who gives me Camazol. Wonder what the difference is.

About 3 to 4 weeks? The doctor says actually the thyroid medicine, Camazol, also has the effect of slowing down heart beat. So I will stop Propanol and see how it goes.
Actually I took Propanol continually without checking my pulse rate. I happened to see the doctor again yesterday for a cold and he measured again. So maybe my pulse rate could have already been at 70/min for some time without me realising it.
