      mummy of 2:

I feel worried that the note-writer may come and look for her when we are out. Cos we do leave the maid at home alone when we go out. I also think it's not right that she was not open with us. We kept asking her who wrote the note, and the contents. She refused to tell us.

Also she has not been much help. She has been with us for three months. Instead of improving, she's regressing.
If it's plain refusal to say, something not quite right. Good move lah. Esp if you have to leave her alone at times, it's scary if she's keeping things from you.

I think regressing may be in part due to her missing home. With ex-maid, a phone call home usually does the trick.

When she was packing her bag, she mentioned that it’s from her cousin working in sg. This cousin had written a letter to her before. In fact that’s how I knew she had a cousin working here. When I received a letter addressed to her with sg return address, and asked who wrote to her.

If it’s really family emergency and need to contact her, I can understand but why come in the middle of the night and leave a note outside. It’s so sneaky.

She also requested to call her cousin. I told her she can do it at the agent. I do not know what her cousin will tell her and I do not want to take the risk.

I allowed her to call home twice but each time she would cry. MIL didn’t like it and asked us not to let her call home. The ICC card was paid for by us as she had just started working with us when we first allowed her to call home. I also helped her post a letter home just last week.

I was pretty freaked out by this and on Friday night I kept all the keys in the room, so she can’t open the door.

hmm, like that also I will be wary of having her call home. Curious, has she ever left home for long? So far, my maids only look very sad/depressed, but no crying lah. I just keep telling them to look to the future and imagine bringing home loads of cash....

I think it's the first time she's away from home for so long. When she was packing, she told me she wanted to go back to Indonesia. She likes working for us and is worried the next employer is not nice. Told her to work hard then employer will be nice to her. She can't go home cos she still has outstanding loan. Actually quite poor thing but no choice, my family's safety is more impt. Just hiope she gets a decent employer and learn from this experience.

Funny girl. If she enjoys working there, all the more reason NOT to incur wrath of employer such that she be sent away. I would be damn scared what the next employer is like. Aiyoh :stupid:

but this is hand-delivered, not sent via snail mail. It's scary if the cousin doesn't even work anywhere near! Is this for real?

Well even beofre the note arrived, we had already given her several warnings to improve. If not we will send her back to agent. She would cry and plead with us, and beg MIl not to be angry with her. But i don't see her making much effort to remember the things we told her about. I think eventually we would have sent her back. Just that the appearance of the note made it immediate.

Yes, the cousine works a few MRT satiosn away. Not within walking distance. I'm wondering how she managed to leave the house at some unearthly hour to deliver the note.
