Catholic High School

Seek not what the school can do for you, but what you can glean from the experience.
I was affected twice: when River Valley moved to Pandan Reservoir during the O level year, and when Hwa Chong moved to Bkt Gombak. 1.5 hour each leg of the daily journey, total 3 hours plus on the road each day.
Hated the commute but loved the school life. After all, I chose the fraternity. Learnt to study along the way with whatever available time in between catching buses. And yes, still made it to NUS, like many in the same boat. -

My dd is the pioneer batch in SCGS. I feel that since there was a change in the original location which most parents took into consideration on the travelling time when choosing schools, MOE should allow this group of affected students has the option to change to other IP JCs which are nearer to their homes instead of switching to 'Ó'level.
My friend who DD is in one of this two girl sch, said that some parent are trying to get into a group and suggest to their present sec sch to let the affected students to hv a chance to choose whether to switch to o level instead. The parents are confidence that their kids can do well in o level and they will hv a chance to choose other jc like anderson, Catholic, etc which is more convenient. Afterall the new jc does not guarantee any gd A level result.mc_007:
CHS secondary will still be in Bishan..only the new JC students in the IP stream are impacted.
Not sure wat are the opinion of the parents of the other 2 girls schools? The thread seems to be not really active in discussion. -

Caught surprise by the announcement and was even more surprise to know that it was re-located somewhere which was out of the way from the original location. :frustrated:CHS secondary will still be in Bishan..only the new JC students in the IP stream are impacted.

For the current Year-3 IP students (1st batch), it's indeed too late for them to switch to O Level track. Your suggestion of allowing this group of students to have the option of switching to another JC (for Yr-5 & 6) sounds reasonable and worth MOE's consideration.

Anyone know when this new JC would be ready? End of 2019 is a plan? Need advise as may consider IP DSA for Catholic High School.

We need numbers to convince moe to allow alternatives .

Its out on straits time that the delay is due to LTA cos the site is earmarked for MRT.
Really not acceptable as they hv been talking about the site for so long and nobody knows u can’t build anything on top of it?? -

If every parent stood up for their child and raised our concerns to the authorities, I m optimistic the authority will be sympathetic to our cause and address the issue fairly.
