Thanks tutormum, noted presenter said toward the end that we should still shield the pin number. Will keep on doing that then.

all ATMs in China has a shield over the number pad, standard safety feature, and all number keys sound the same

          ATM bin emptying raises concerns.

:yikes: Don't dump the receipts into atm bins?

I always bring the receipts home to check and tear it off into small pieces before disposing. I have seen people putting the receipts on the atm and walk off, sometimes they just throw on the floor..

              It is happening again!!!

My colleague has unauthorised withdrawals from her account. POSB says they can’t promise that all her money may be recovered.
That happened on Sunday, and her account was frozen as the bank is investigating.
Then today her account has $4 withdrawn again!!
Investigation has shown that withdrawal was done on internet to purchase gaming stuff in US dollars.
I am losing confidence with this bank. Think i may want to close my account with POSB.

                Serious?
Account frozen already, and still can withdraw another $4???

                Doesn't look good at all.

Yep! But the bank claims they cant see that $4 transaction!!!
Her bank account is so low now, she couldn’t have done her sums wrongly.

I’m ignorant - usually only buy retail stuff off the web. A bit wonder…can buy game stuff in USD from bank account meh? I thought usually credit cards would be needed.

If it’s shown that these were indeed the work of fraudsters, I think the bank will make good. That’s what they did when there was that spat of withdrawals from ATMs.

Does your friend have a PayPal or other online payment account linked to her POSB debit card tied with the account?

As the local banks’ online transactions need 2 Factor Authentication (2FA), it is not easy to gain unauthorized access but maybe vulnerable through association with online payment platforms which are only based on login name and password, making them easier to be hacked.

For example, someone else could have used her PayPal acct to purchased US$4 worth of online games credits and was paid through her POSB account.
