        Hi Everyone,

wanna check on some items…my ex hub is from st.A and now child is with me. I am intending to place son with st.a but staying at seng kang.

is there sch bus to SK?
I consider my chance to be under 2A(2)?

I also checked that st.A is govt-aided. since sch fees is free for pri…the misc fees is the same? or is there any difference?

next year would be my turn for pri 1 registration…need to mentally prepare myself…

This is a tricky question. I'm believe your son should still qualify for Phase 2A(2) as long as his biological father is willing to submit his NRIC for verification. But do call up the school for confirmation. Registration address should be based on your NRIC address in Seng Kang. If you can get P2A2 priority, it should be a shoo-in for you even if you stay in Sengkang.

Is your son, a SC (Sg citizenship), PR or foreigner ?

If SC : school fees for primary school is $6.50, per month

If PR or foreigner : school fees ex
            http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2012/ ... s-2013.php

If your son is SC or PR : u can enrol him, under Phase 2A2, using your ex husband's PSLE certificate, or his St Andrew Junior report card.
But on Phase 2A2 Registration day in July, your ex-husband has to be present physically in school, to enrol your son.
Phase 2A2 is applicable, only for SC and PR.

But if your son is a foreigner : then u can only enrol him under Phase 3, not under Phase 2A2, even though your ex-husband had studied before in SA Junior school.

However, note that by end of Phase 2C, St Andrew Junior will be full house, hit 100 % occupancy rate.
If your son is a foreigner, he will have to look for other schools, that still have vacancies, for Phase 3.
All foreigner kids can only enrol, through Phase 3.

It is the citizenship of your son that matters, not the citizenship of your ex-husband : because it is the child that is going to study, in the primary school.

              Hi phtthp,

Thank q for the much needed inform.

Child is a SC by birth so I guess it wouldn't be an issue getting in. What I am worried most is if there's school bus to n fro. if not it will head a total disaster.

so comparing to normal govt sch. SAJS is not fully covered under the free pri sch fee scheme?

              From MOE site.
              ◾6 years of compulsory education
              ◾No school fees
              Standard miscellaneous fees1:$6.50
              Second-tier miscellaneous fees2:$6.50
◾Subject-based Banding allows students to offer a mix of standard and foundation subjects, depending on their strengths
◾National examination: Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE)
◾Students are encouraged to participate in Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) and Community Involvement Programmes (CIP)

Sorry for all the qns..only 1 kid so quite kan jiong

since your son is an SC : no issue, can enrol him under Phase 2A2 (old boys) in July.

On that Registration day, your ex-husband may bring along either his PSLE certificate, or Report card, to register your son.

                school bus :
can call up SA Junior (telephone: 6288-4303), ask admin for sch bus operator contact telephone number.
Call up the operator : clarify if currently got any school bus going Sengkang area, fetch children to school daily ?
better find out now, before P1 Registration start in July
                (just in case)

worst come to worst : if no school bus, u have to ask around, see if can find any private school bus, to solve transport daily issue, or drop him at your parents / in-law house daily, where there is a school bus to pick him up, from their house

The school fee is fully subsidised by govt. Miscellaneous fee is not school fee. It is payable. If you are worry about the $, contact the school to find out about the financial assistance scheme.

I do recall there is school bus from Sengkang. Contact the the operator to confirm.

well, I am not so much worried abt the school fees. Just to make sure my understanding are correct and also clear.

just to check, are the standards for Chinese not as high compared to the rest of the schools as I read thru the thread and someone mention: in overall the Chinese grades of the students are not that great.

As common as of recently generation, Chinese speaking at home had been a tough thing. my boy would be turning 5 this year and I m contemplating to sending him for Chinese enrichment classes…totally CMI.

Yes, the Chinese standard is still not promising.

You do not need to worry about your boy’s Chinese standard as he is only 5. He will pick up the language soon. But it is good to enrol him to enrichment class to give more opportunities to interact and cultivate his interests in the language.

                        thank alibaba.

Until now he can’t complete a simple Chinese story book which consist of 1 liner a page. Personally feels quite bad also as I had been emphasising quite abit on his English language. As most of his school works would be in English in the future, not to mention being able to understand what the sentence is trying to tell him.

                        Feeling the toughness.
