Definitely there is some inconvenience involved.

But it looks like except for the latest 2015 IP students, those prior to that cannot say that they chose these 3 IP schools based on the knowledge that the New Govt IP JC will be built at Bishan.

        Nebbermind:
When is the pioneer batch for the JC supposed to begin?

Surprised they have not even named the JC... or is it called New IP JC?? šŸ¦†
Since this new JC still no name yet, why not name it LKY IP Junior College ?

The Pioneering batch will be those entering Yr 5, in 2017, into the renovated temp JC, at Mount Sinai. These teenagers are born in 2000.

They will take \"A\" level exam in 2018 : the first batch of \"A\" level students, from this new combined JC, from 3 Secondary schools.

          jetsetter:

But we mustnt take Bishan as reference point as many live in Yishun and NE too. So its not that direct.
for those that stay extreme far north like in Sembawang, Yishun, Khatib, Admiralty, Woodlands (since not every pupil stay in Bishan) : some IP students in SNGS, Catholic High are considering switch over to O level, take O level exam, then use the results to apply for a Junior College, closer / nearer their home, instead of go so far all the way to temp site at Ghim Moh. They are also more confident of taking O level.

Since SNGS Secondary & Catholic High offer both dual track, should be ok to switch internally, from IP to O level track, since within the same school premises

As for SCGS Secondary girls : they not so much affected, as their current school at Dunearn road, is a manageable distance from Ghim Moh, compared to the other two Secondary schools' students affected much more, in Bishan.

I empathise with affected parents. I understand even the earlier 2 batches, parents somewhat know that the new jc will be in the vicinity of St Nicks and CHS as some of the parents pointed out.

It appears to be a breach of promise by MOE. I understand this is not the first delay. Also now the holding site is switched. Double whammy!

Some suggestions are: a)provide a nearby alternative site to build b) allow Dsa to other j c. I think switching to o levels is not a good option given that these kids worked hard for their p s l e and qualified for ip, with some even with scores to enter to raffles or nanyang or other academically top schools

Another way is ask SJI to find another place, nearer to their permanent home, then shift out.

In turn, the new JC shift in, after the SJI boys shift out

If IP students from SNGS / SCGS / Catholic High wish to transfer into Year 5 (2017) RI / HCI / VJC / NJC, etc : will there be vacancies available, to accommodate all those who are keen to seek Transfer ?

IP students from (SNGS / SCGS / Catholic High Secondary) can use their IP results, to seek Transfer into Year 5 (2017) RI / HCI / VJC / NJC etc, while JAE students use O level results

Yes but this is a breach of commitment by MOE. I understand because our children stay in schools v long hours, many parents take distance as a factor and this is also what moe has always suggested.

These parents and kids had a choice but chose it because of both location and programme. Their frustrations are understandable. We should put ourselves in their shores. Talk is easy but waking up an hour earlier is no joke. And staying late in j c 2 to study is common especially if one does not have a conducive home environment. Don't think we want that for our own children
