주소 : 53 시내 산 도로, S (276880). You take the MRT to Buona vista MRT station and walk for about 7 to 8 minutes and you'll reach there.

It should be 17 or 18 minutes by walking, based on the google map estimate, with a walking distance of 1.7 km. You can walk the distance and let us know. 😄

By the way, my DH used to walk towards the location where Dover MRT is roughly now to take 147 back to Bukit Merah. Yes, it is still within walking distance to Mt Sinai but not that near.

Your DH could have taken bus 147 near the Ghim Moh point blocks. Why walk so far to near Dover MRT to take that bus? :scratchhead: No wonder take so long. Maybe he wants to exercise. 😂
Students that studied in that school usually take 100 or 111 to ghim bus terminal and walk 3 minutes to the school or board 92 feeder from Buona vista MRT to reach the front of the school. From Bishan to Buona vista MRT via circle line is 5 stops I think. But these facts are not to be believed. 🦆

There is some unnecessary conflict here as former RJC alumni may be unhappy about the dissatisrfaction expressed by the affected parents regarding the Mt Sinai site.

There are different issues here, the affected parents are just disappointed and concerned about the uncertainties surrounding the new IP JC. Some parents may have deliberately chosen the IP programme offered by the feeder schools (over more established programmes) based on the location consideration and some may even have relocated to Bishan. Hence, the concerns and frustration as expressed, especially since the changes are seemingly out of the parents’ control and through no fault of theirs.

Mt Sinai is an excellent site for any new JC but in this case, the disappointment expressed by the affected parents may have created an erroneous impression that they only have disdain for the Mt Sinai site whereas in reality, the unhappiness is more with MOE’s handling of the entire episode.

          Peace to all RJC alumni

I have gotten the location wrong but the walking distance is definitely more than the 10 minutes you claimed. An honest mistake that I can admit to, so what's the big deal?

By the way, the main access is via the frontgate. The side gate at Ghim Moh car park (which provides a shorter route) is not always accessible.

Oh there's no big deal. I didn't make a big deal out of it. I merely say you should have first corrected your mistake and not let your mistake circulate lest it becomes fact

I believe it was an honest mistake. So no big deal. Your DH studied there for 2 years. You should have verified the location with him.

If you can make an honest mistake, so can MOE or LTA or URA or anyone. Why make a big deal out of it?

And your latest picture, why have you chosen to end at the furthest end of the school site? The front gate is just diagonally opposite Ghim Moh Pri. The side gate is even nearer. If you are talking about walking distance, students will enter via the side gate. Today, most secondary schools / JCs have implemented access to school via their EZlink card. You don't need a security guard to lock / unlock the gate for the students to enter. As long as it is official hours, they can enter.

I'm just saying i walked within 10 mins fr buona vista mrt to rjc. Fact. Achievable for a 17-18 yo teen. Today maybe slower cos older, back ache, knee pain, and want to avoid having more sunspots, so try to avoid the sun and dust or whatever and would rather detour.

I can't control anybody's walking speed or google map's average walking speed.

The authorities should not have made this mistake.

That's why it is a big deal to affected parents and pupils who made their choice based on those information made available then.

Aiyah, where the new IP JC is located is really none of my business. I'm just taken back at some of the arguments thrown forth, and some distorted facts.

#1 Mt Sinai is too far away. We've been promised a JC in Bishan.
-> Nothing was officially made known about the location till early 2014. Whatever \"hearsay\" you heard doesn't hold water.

#2 Mt Sinai not enough LTs. / We don't need LTs.
-> Mt Sinai has enough LTs. JCs need LTs.

#3 Cannot walk fr Buona Vista MRT to Mt Sinai site within 10 mins. 20 mins is not acceptable walking time.
-> But i didn't fly nor run to RJC in the morning. Perhaps i have longer legs? Even if it is 15 mins stroll, you mean our youngsters cannot take it?

#4 No sheltered walkway from MRT to school.
-> How many schools in Singapore have sheltered walkway from MRT right up to the door steps? Granted some have, but not every one has.

#5 IT'S THE DISTANCE! (Yes we heard that loud and clear)
-> Yeah MOE advocates distance. But what have parents been telling MOE? That distance doesn't really matter if it is a good reputable school. Look at the students who attend RI. They don't just stay around TP, Bishan, AMK. They stay in Pasir Ris, Jurong, Sengkang, Marine Parade too. And that is the same for HCI / NJC / VJC / DHS. And since this new IP JC is supposedly going to be another top JC, it's supposedly going to attract students from everywhere.

It looks like whatever solutions is implemented / suggested here will not satisfy the parents unless the JC is back in Bishan. Should just name the new JC \"Bishan JC\".

It's here. Really here. Not at the end of Mt Sinai.

I m an affected parent. Since you are an unaffected parent and do not have full information, please refrain from making unconstructive comments.

The reality is even for the first batch, the Bishan vicinity was communicated . Parents and children have made their decision on distance amongst other factors. Many staying nearby have forgone choices of other top schools.

Now as the forum writer pointed out, there were multiple boo boo by various agencies but these were never admitted to. Parents want a meeting with the decision making authorities but has not been granted a fair audience . Please try to put yourselves in our shoes and don't rub salt into our wounds.

It is not my intention to rub salt into your wounds. I'm just stating some facts.

Didn't you say \"Isnt this forum meant for discussion and airing of views. If you are offended by people having different views, then don't contribute to the discussion.\"

When other people air differing views, it becomes \"rubbing salt into the wound\". 🤷

Don't make it like you are the first set of parents affected by the relocation of schools. Thousands of parents have experienced them. Some of the students also had no chance to enjoy the new renovated school facilities. The worst hit are the primary school students, half of which are probably too young to take public transport and are at the mercy of the school bus drivers. Here we are talking about JC students, who should be independent enough to take public transport.

My honest mistake in an online forum doesn't affect anyone except for my bruised pride but this honest mistake by government agencies resulted in unhappiness and uncertainties as well as significant inconveniences for many students and their parents. Definitely not on the same scale.

As for the new map, it is one junction away as the map can't display the Mt Sinai Road exactly where I want it.

At the end of the day, the affected parents have a set of worries and concerns which bystanders may not share. There is no intention to disparage Mt Sinai as a JC site and there is no need for any heated words between everyone.

                  Peace...

I'm not so sure that everything is really due to mistakes. Some look like it is drawing up of new requirements due to changing needs.

In any case, unless we have never made any mistake, give and take.

As individuals, no one can make no mistakes.

But as a team of supposed to be highly qualified individuals, we should not expect no mistakes?

This would be dangerous thinking for a nation and not remembering our founding fathers in a respectful manner.

Btw, I am not concerned about the temp site at Mt.Sinai. A little more inconvenience perhaps, but not cannot get around the logisitics.
