Hi,
Please help:
Caleb has some $2 notes and Dylan has some $5 notes. The ratio of the number of notes Caleb had to the number of notes Dylan had was 5 : 7 . If Dylan gave Caleb 24 notes, the ratio of the number of notes Caleb has to the number of notes Dylan has would become 3 : 1.
1.\tHow many $2 notes did Caleb have at first?
2.\tFind the total value of Caleb and Dylan’s notes. -

1.\tHow many $2 notes did Caleb have at first?
2.\tFind the total value of Caleb and Dylan’s notes.
At first:
Ratio of C : D : Total
=> 5 : 7 : 12After Dylan gave Caleb 24 notes:
Ratio of C : D : Total
=> 3 : 1 : 4 (x3)
=> 9 : 3 : 12
9 units - 5 units = 24 notes
4 units = 24 notes
1 unit = 6 notes
5 units x 6 notes = 30 notes
7 units x 6 notes = 42 notes
30 x $2 = $60
42 x $5 = $210
$60 + $210 = $270
1) At first, C has 30 $2 notes.
2) Total value of Caleb and Dylan’s notes is $270 -
Thank you, guest2013!!!

No. Of fifty cent coins = 62
-------------------------------
12 fifty cent coins -->$6
$21 - $6 = $15
50 cents - 20 cent =30cent=0.3
$15 / 0.3 = 50
Total fifty cent coins--> 50 + 12 = 62
