      Hi Maman,

I’m in the same situation as you. If my child is unable to get into the sch student care, I will have to choose from the following options:

      1. Choose another sc around that area. Read from forum, raffles seems to be quite good. So likely will consider that.

      2. Quit my job and work part-time instead.

Hopefully the sc increase the intake…otherwise we got to weigh our options.

Haven’t been browsing Palm View Primary School thread for quite sometime and saw quite a fair bit of parents asking for feedback.

My son is currently in P1 in Palm View. Experience so far has been really positive. The school focuses a lot on character building and social values. Personally, I feel that this is a right and good move because by building the basic social values in a child, they would know how to conduct themselves properly be it in the school or outside the school. Recently there was a program teaching the kids about various types of bullying and it also includes cyber-bullying as well. During recess, kids can opt to pick a piece of colour paper with a hand image given out by the student leaders where they can write their name and declare to make the school a bullying-free environment . I knew this because while waiting to fetch my boy, I saw a board which is filled with all these colored papers with the students’ names on it and one of them belonged to my boy!

As for the Chinese lesson being too stressed, well, my boy is the 'potato ’ kind if you know what I meant. He doesn’t speak chinese in full sentences, but amazingly, he is able to catch what is been taught in school. Looking at his homework, I can see that the school starts teaching at a very basic level first so that the foundation is set well and firm. Even though Palm View is doing higher chinese, the work seems to be manageable for my boy! It’s not like they are thrown with deep chinese words to learn. I also understand that for weaker students, there will be extra help. Nevertheless, I also feel that parents play an important part to guide and to encourage the child.

Coincidentally, while I was typing this message, my boy happened to ask me what I am doing. So I told him that mummy is sharing her experience about Palm View. Then he said " Can you tell them that this school is very good and I like this school very much. The teachers are nice and the school is beautiful too."

Ha… So it pretty sums up what I want to say. Anyway if I am not wrong, there is a MOE seminar happening on 30th May to be held within the school. Seems to be the only chance this year to gain an insight about this school, so for any parents who are interested, I strongly suggest to grab this chance and bring the kids along to get a feel about Palm View Primary. All the best!

Any one knows where is Mr Thomas Low? My son mentioned that he has not seen him in school for a long time. He misses the way he conducts the fun scientist programme…is he still a teacher there ? Anyone knows? Cyanocrash ?
