Sharing of views is good. But when it becomes rude, it is not. Lack of empathy.[/quote]Agree. Both sides need to keep check of their tones. An action will lead to a reaction, whichever side starts it.
I am not taking sides. I believe it is good for the unaffected parents to share their views here so that the affected parents can see things from different and broader perspectives?ParkYuni:

You don't have to worry. Let MOE do this job.
And if you see someone having an issue and keep 转牛角尖, do you or do you not paint a bigger picture for her to see?Or do you support and reinforce her stance and let her sink into deeper resentment? -

In another forum, the mod would have ban you by now......
And that's a perfectly bad example of \"I, me, & myself\" self centered mentality. Just for your own indulgence and he lost the opportunity to sell half a duck.rains:
死有轻如鸿毛,重如泰山.
他们的牺牲是鸿毛还是泰山?
他们的牺牲是自愿的, 还是上了贼船?
If parents can suggest solutions without having access to all the information privy only to the authorities, wouldn't that be an insult to MOE or LTA or whoever is in charge?
(Ya la, I know you will say no no no. Instead, they will welcome new ideas. Ya right)
I am not sure what complaining can achieve, sometimes people just need an outlet to vent that frustration, sometimes people hope to gain a different perspective, and sometimes, new solutions can come up.
I was just at a duck rice stall the night before asking for a duck drumstick. The guy was left with just half a duck. You know usually they won't give you that last drumstick bcos it's not nice to sell half a duck without a drumstick.
I sulked a little and shook my head when he suggested just duck meat. He thought for a while and then decided to give me the drumstick.
Sometimes complaints do help to throw up new ideas or help people to reach a compromise.
But shutting people up will just lead to hostility.
So now there 2000 duck drum sticks in bishan for grab -

Many students rejoicing? I suppose MOE would have the database of all the IP students' addresses and you have access to it?
The fact is there still many STUDENTS who rejoiced for the jc holding site to be at mt Sinai because is more convenient to themlee_yl:

I wrote a very long post on this but decided it is too long.
Sharing is good. Insulting is not
Just thinking how I can summarise all I want to say in one sentence.
Irony of life is when you see AY having a group of supporters for his brand of \"freedom of speech\" yet a group of aggrieved parents and students with greater reason for \"freedom of speech\" asked to accept their destiny without a sound.
I am worried. -

I think: even if those kids from cat high, st nicks and scgs are not from ri and rgs, they are also not 省油的灯. I don't think their parents need others to show them the bigger picture. MOE would have painted it for them in the remote event that they couldn't see.
I see your point but do the affected parents see the points of the non-affected?
And if you see someone having an issue and keep 转牛角尖, do you or do you not paint a bigger picture for her to see?Or do you support and reinforce her stance and let her sink into deeper resentment?
I should think parents of such kids are no less brilliant than parents of ri and rgs kids.
I do feel that they are the ones who see a clearer picture of what's happening.
They are not in love ie. 当局者迷, and 旁观者may not necessarily be 清 since the onlookers do not participate in the same kind of worries and uncertainties as they do, or get the opportunity to interact with the related authorities for the clearest picture.
People who are plagued by troubles often do not need more advice. They often simply need a listening ear. Not sneering or trivialisation of their problems.
The voice of these parents sounds clear as day to me. They are asking for support and understanding, not spoiling for a fight.
If you (as in the general 'you') have nothing kind to say, at least don't say things that make the troubled ones feel worse.

There is going to be a dialogue session on 25 May at MOE HQ Buona Vista. Just go there and trash it out lah.
