      Nbm,

Agree. Loisir Hotel looks to be in a perfect location. Not driving in this trip. So near the train station is a must. Did u stay in Loisir, too? Would you stay there again when you revisit? Any other hotel options nearby that look decent enough? Not looking for atas places to stay. Thanks.

      Can try this hotel

Anyone gone on the Tateyama Alpine Route? Better to go in Spring or Autumn? Autumn colours suppose to be nice but no snow wall. Dunno which is better. Any advise?

              u going?
i think autumn will be nicer as the dam would have water then. but it will be colder right?

Thanks! I'm thinking of going, but not sure if I should go in Autumn or spring. Have read lots on the internet but still can't decide, that's why I posted a question here, wondering of anyone who has been can share an opinion. The autumn colours look nice but we'll miss snow wall.

I'm considering going via Nagoya, go Kiso Valley, then move on to the alpine route. Then go matsumoto, as I want to see the black castle, which is one of the 3 best in Japan, since I have already seen the other 2 best in Himeji and Kumamoto, then return via Tokyo.

I would say depends on individual preference and experience ba.

personally I would go for the snow wall, something unique.
autumn foliage is not very uncommon.
