      Just my little contribution.

EESIS is automatically given, each year from yr 1 to yr 6 based on results.

Below are some of the scholarships/awards/prizes that I am aware of; there may be some more.

In upper secondary, the following are available,
      MOE upper secondary
      YDSP
      AStar upper secondary science award

      In JC years:
LKY ARE & LKY M & Sc ( for achievement in secondary years)
      MOE JC scholarship
      DSTA JC scholarship
      Astar JC Science Award
Spore Police Force Book Prize ( given to Yr 6 students)
      Singapore Armed Forces,
      MOE/ RSI scholarship
      MTI scholarship
      EBD scholarship
Tay Eng Soon, ( NUSH only)

For Astar, students can apply for REP exemption if they have participated in MOE LSAP and was attached to a AStar lab during year 4.

Chances are high for NUSH student to do their ARP in one of Astar lab and hence could also exempted from the REP

For DSTA, the research attachment can be exempted if there is no suitable programme available.

DC told DSTA during interview the strong interest in a particulate medical field and it does not stop DSTA from giving DC the DSTA JC scholarship and was exempted from Research attachment.

DC currently in yr 6 and has received 6 scholarships/award/prize for JC years.

        1. May I check if MOE Upper Secondary & EESIS the same thing ? If not, are they mutually exclusive ?

        2. Where can I find more info on the following ?

LKY ARE & LKY M & Sc ( for achievement in secondary years)
        MOE JC scholarship
        DSTA JC scholarship
        Astar JC Science Award

        3. What is REP and MOE LSAP ? When is it in Year 4 ? Even though DS1 is under A-Star, but he never goes for any of these programmes. It's optional right ?

        4. For YDSP, so far DS1 only participated once last year and was told not compulsory to attend. And yes, DS1 also told interviewer his interest in not in Physics which we thought \"gone case\" for the scholarship but was surprised that he was selected.

        5. May I know which 6 scholarships your DC has ? May I know what is the CAP like or CCA or other achievements to stand a chance ?

        Thanks a lot.

          Dagong99,

The NUSH student handbooks has all the information about most of the scholarships in your item 2 except MOE/RSI Scholarship, LKY ARE and LKY M & S awards.

The LKY ARE (All-round excellence) scholarship and LKY Math and Science Book prize are given by MOE.

LKY M & S book prize - Typically outstanding performances in Maths (SMO) or excellence in Sciences (eg Gold/Silver in Junior Phy/Chem/ Informatics Olympiads medalist, SSEF, Science Mentorship Program(SMP) Young Scientist awards etc). Typically these students that have all rounds excellence including academic such in principal list etc.

LKY ARE - all the above including top academic (Principal list), being CCA leaders in Y4 ( President/Vice-President etc), CIP, Good character awards during Y1-Y4. The LKY ARE (Scholarship) is the penultimate MOE awards.

MOE LSAP (Local student attachment Program ) - during Oct/Nov Y4, MOE extend invitation to all JC1 and NUSH Y4 students to attend 4-6 weeks research attachments in local ASTAR/Temasel LifeScience Lab.
Students can apply and NUSH will shortlist ()nominate) participants for MOE interviews. Successful students will attend 1 month internship with Research Institution form Mid Nov - 3rd week Dec ( no holidays). Some student use this as project for SSEF participation the following years.

MOE/RSI at MIT - is one of the 5 OSAP (Oversea Student Attachment Programme). Others including 2/3 weeks attachment (in June/July/August) to universities in Canada Australia, Germany, ISYF at Imperial College London and CEE-RSI (Boston , Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Announcement of this program is for Y5 students in late January. Again students will apply via NUSH which will shortlist 8 candidates for MOE interview. This year NUSH has 2 participants in Australia,1 in ISYF at ICL, 1 to CEE-RSI (MIT). The RSI at MIT is the longest (6 weeks attachment). Students accepted for these OSAP - most have done research project at SMP or have done LSAP.

REP is Research Exposure Programme (REP) - a requirements for ASTAR Upper Sec Science awards. Your DD had attended it as a 3 days programme during June/Dec holidays in Y3.

To answer Q5, I believe Dolphin57 DC probably also has the NUSH Scholarship (eg Tay Eng Soon) on top on the MOE/ASTAR/LKY awards. Criteria - Top academic plus Olympiad medalist, Research Programme in Y3/Y4/Y5 etc.

Yes, found DS1's REP cert which he attended in Sep last year, blur mummy didn't know that is important. šŸ˜‚

So for Y4, it's MOE LSAP which will be in Nov/Dec (holiday burned :gloomy: ) and OASP for Y5, but only 2 successful šŸ˜“

Q5. Really sounds like mission impossible. šŸ˜“

                  Hi Dagong,

DC burned school holiday since year 3,

Sorry for some error in earlier posting, DC attended the 3 days REP in year 3 and attend LSAP in year 4 in one of ASTAR lab for 5 weeks.

Was not asked to attend 1 month attachment in DSTA in year 5 as part of the scholarship requirement.

LSAP is in Y4 Dec holidays right ? So can't plan for holiday if want to join LSAP ? No wonder they always put \"Make sure you can commit if you want to sign up\". I will take note of that, thanks a lot.

If get DSTA scholarship in Y5, then no need go for 1 month attachment ? :scratchhead:

Actually, you misread me. For Y5 OSAP - 2 students going to Australia (ISS), 1 student to take part in 2015 ISYF (Imperial College) and 1 student going to RSI (MIT).

                        Hi,

Year 5 can also be very busy (exposure opportunities) for NUSH students.

DC was given 2 blocks (after semester exams) of internship in a AStar lab to do ARP. May 14 to June 20 2014 and Oct 13 to 19 Dec 2014
