PSLE is really stressful for both child and parent. Planning to do a 2 weeks holidays after that. Any idea when is the best period to take?

For last yr, we left for holidays 3 days later after DD sat for her last paper - HC.

We booked the flight and local tour much earlier in April - May.

We wrote an email to P and Tr on our travelling dates and was ok.

You can choose those dates when the rest of the school is having their exams…the dates should be in the school’s calendar.

But in past years, the reporting day is generally a few days before Christmas. So if you are back at least a week before Christmas, you should be quite safe.

If you do not have younger kids having exams after PSLE, it is best to go after the PSLE period before results release in 20+ Nov week. At that time, it is a break and a reward for the PSLE effort. Past years I have some friends who booked holiday after the PSLE results release. Some went with disappointment (results not up to expectations), some went with uncertainty (due to choosing of schools), but of course some went with joy as well (results good so it’s a celebration).

If you prefer to go holiday after PSLE results release, make sure you give yourself a week of time after the results release - to cater for time to decide on school choice / selection. A friend once book holiday 2 days after results release and due to unforeseen circumstances, need to re-evaluate list of schools initially aim for. Again that can be quite stressful given the short 2-3 days she had.

We’ve booked our 9 days trip to Australia.

                      Leaving end October.
                      Need a real good break!
