phtthp:
If sign 12 months rental (say $5k per month), contract, but fail to ballot in at 2C, how much it costs to quit the contract ?
Singaporeans and PRs
$5K X 12 months = $60K to break lease.
Considered as \"fixed lease 12 months\"
If the landlord is kind enough to allow you to find a replacement tenant after you decided to quit after 2 months, then you just need to top up the balance (next tenant paying $4800 then you just need to top up $200X10months and agent fees for helping to find replacement tenant).
Is there any rule that states one cannot use address A for phase 2B and address B for phase 2C. Or for phase 2C or 2Csup? :?
e.g.
Address A for Phase 2B, your current address (outside 2km) you are serving your RC/NC
Address B for Phase 2C, your newly bought condo within 1km. (after got balloted out in 2B) -
I will advise the tenants, don’t sign the 30months straight away. Have renewal terms included.
If you get in, then sign the renewals.
If you don’t and got into somewhere else more than 2km away, u are free. Move to a place nearer after the lease is up. -

No rules. But the authorities will be suspicious when 2 addresses are used.phtthp:

If it's like what u say an old address vs a new address, they will state that in their system coz they also need to key in when you will be moving in.
If however, there isn't a sales and purchase agreement, they may probably check. MOE is now on high alert. I'm sure they will be catching some to show others not to do it. -
since rental less than 1 km so much hassle as balloting is involved for popular schools & uncertain outcome, perhaps parents will just proceed to enrol children into neighborhood schools, won’t bother to compete for popular schools, no headache

Ahem... That's P2 chess players.mashy:
... So if say, they couldn't get into school A in phase 2C and they got into School B which is 1-2km away in Phase 2CS. This policy won't apply if all SC are admitted. It will apply however, if there are SC who live beyond 2km having to go through the ballot...
Interesting scenario. Yes, this requires clarification by the chess players. -

Rules are rules and should not change or apply differently because of the different outcome, or whatever other people do.mashy:

1) You got in using an address that is less than 2km, doesn't matter whether there is balloting or no balloting for the Phase, or
2) You got in using an address that is less than 2km, and there was balloting? -
Under their FAQs. I thought it’s quite clear here that if all SC enter without the need to use distance to differentiate applicants, the min stay doesn’t apply.
"Parents do not need to seek MOE’s approval to change their residential address.
However, if a child gains priority admission under the “within 1km” and “between 1km and 2km” home-school distance categories (including the eligibility to be balloted within these distance categories) and is subsequently found to have not fulfilled the condition that the child resides at address used for registration for at least 30 months from the commencement of the P1 Registration Exercise on 2 July 2015, MOE reserves the right to transfer the child out of the school to another school with vacancies. MOE will evaluate and assess the circumstances for each case, before making a decision as to whether to transfer the child out of the school.
MOE recognises that some families may face exceptional circumstances that prevent them from remaining at the address for the entire duration of the child’s primary school studies. We wish to assure parents who find themselves in such cases that MOE is prepared to allow the child to remain in the registered school, provided they are able to provide compelling grounds to justify the change in residential address, e.g. severe economic hardship or matrimonial disputes that necessitates the move."
