If the median GPA of all subjects is average at 3.6, then the average overall GPA is likely to be below 3.6. Please do not ask me for any statistics. My rationale is that not every student is good at all subjects so some subjects will be above the median and some will be below, so as a result, the overall average GPA is likely to be below 3.6.

My dd is in Y3 now. GPA of 4 is a reality and has been maintained by those few students. But for this SA1, the HCL median is low at 2.8 so I really do not know how many students could maintain a perfect GPA this time.

I understand that last year when awards were given out to the top 15 students (based on Y1 results), not all the top 15 have a perfect GPA.

Does it mean every level, only top 15 students will receive the awards every year? Thanks

So far, I understand that the school gives out award to top of subject and overall top 15 for each level.

DD is in Y1. The subject teachers we met clarified that the subject GPA median is relative to her class and not the whole level.

Then that's very uninformative! I wonder if that's the same for every level? I've always assumed it's for the whole level. Surely this is carrying the \"reduce unhealthy comparison\" strategy a bit too far.

The girls have always taken it to mean the level's median. In any event the End Of Year Report clearly states the Cohort Median for each subject.

I think class-based median is for all levels. My dd is in Y3, and referencing alng's earlier post of the median for this year's HCL SA1, the median reflected in my dd's progress report is definitely different from what alng has mentioned.

I have just looked at last year's EOY report and it does clearly state \"cohort median\", but the recent ones only state \"median\". Still less info than I would like, but too lazy to ask, and not sure if they will tell.
