Hi Janet, thanks for the headsup on SA1 schedule.

Hi Periwinklejoy,
Son's teacher replied me...Oral exam will be held during the 6th week. April seems to be a busy month with SA1 preparations and NAPFA test. Come May, there is not much time for revision

Hi Blurqueen, thanks for the uniform sales dates info.
Janet, great! I was worried the oral will be on week 5 as my gal’s ballet exam is held during that week. -
Parents of P3, I would like to check whether your child’s teacher conducted the investigation activity on page 43 of the Science textbook.
1. Add a packet of baker’s yeast and a teaspoon of sugar to a cup of warm water.
2. Place a few drops of the mixture into a Petri dish.
3. View the yeast mixture using a microscope.
4. Draw what you see in your Science journal.
My boy’s teacher did not do this activity. I thought this is an interesting activity and it would be such a waste if the teacher did not do so.
If there are other classes which skipped this, I intend to write an email to the teacher and the HOD to encourage carrying out this activity. -

I doubt mine did too. I will ask her, she is asleep now. During PTM, her FT who is also Science tr, told me that to her, science texts are useless. My child does not bring text to school at all. Then why ask us to buy science texts huh?? :roll:Parents of P3, I would like to check whether your child's teacher conducted the investigation activity on page 43 of the Science textbook.

I hv seen the older textbooks used by my elder boy (MPH, i-Science). I think the current one Perfect Match is not too lousy. But it all boils down to whether the teacher uses the points raised in the textbook for further discussions.
For example, when covering the topic Plants, I believe many children hv not seen a Stughorn fern. But there was no organised excursion to bring the children to the park to see these plants firsthand. Also the many water plants.
Also the latest topic Materials, there was also no science journal on the activity suggested to list the non living things the child see around him and to discuss the reason why the item is made of this particular material (talk abt the properties). I remembered my elder boy was tested on why a metal bowl is not suitable for hot soup. Btw his ans was it is suitable so that the hot soup cools faster (he hates hot soup)

IJJ,
Science texts have been lousy for many years.
A cousin advised me to get supplementary textbooks to teach. Some supplementary texts are either too detailed or doesn’t stay close to the school text…very frustrating.
