      Dear all,

My daughter is now in NYGH sec 2. She is having problem with Language Arts (LA). It terrible because LA is double weightage. I am looking for IP tuition on LA. Anyone knows of any good IP tuition? I had been surfing internet looking for IP tuition but could only find Learnerlodge which provide LA tuition. Does anyone know if learnerlodge is a good choice?

        Thanks

It's a combination of English and Literature.
            Same as HCI.

My gal is having tuition at Learning Lab. I know some of her friends have their tuition at Learning Point too.

                Hello all,

I’m new to this forum. Joined some years back for a brief period and was too busy to log in after.
Recently, I just activated my account again and stumbled to this thread while searching for some info.
I hope to be able to learn from the sharing here and also contribute where I can. For a start, I think it’s great that some of the members here are students or former students themselves and able to share their personal experience. My dd is in NY S2 this year. She also struggled with LA esp in S1. I suppose a huge factor is because the syllabus for this subject is so different from Eng in primary school where the focus in on grammar, cloze passage, vocab, etc. In Sec 1, with English combined with Lit, it’s a transition to something new. So, it is understandable there is a bit of struggle. Partly also, based on what I heard, the teacher was not able to engage the class very well. However, I’m not blaming the teacher here. Students have to take responsibility too if they don’t understand what is being taught. I believe this is something which NY is trying to inculcate in her students - to nurture Reflective, Responsive and Responsible learners.

Looking back, while it was heart pain to see my dd struggle with LA in S1, the learning process has helped her in some way, for example perseverance. Things are better this year, she is enjoying LA in S2. Now her struggle is with PHYSICS! I’ll be glad if someone can share their experience or their child’s experience with this subject.

Hi parents, I have seen many NYGH students doing street sales in Jurong area, may I know how many CIP hours are required each year? Is it compulsory?

                    Hi,

Can anyone share how are the students admitted to NYGH through DSA Sports are coping? I heard training is very tough and takes up a lot of days per week. This may leave no time for the students to do their studies. Some have to give up and go to other school due to stress from CCA and academic demands. Is that true?

Hi 🙂 Currently in NYGH, a sec 1. I am not a sports dsa but I have a few friends who dsa-ed via sports. They do have alot of practices as compared to the various ccas. For certain cca, upon confirming offer they actually had to go for practices before the sch year begin. But I guess its really fun as well. Many of my friends are coping relatively well 🙂 I do not deny the high academic expectations but I think the rule is to NEVER EVER Procrastinate. I regret not listening my seniors' advice regarding procrastination after MYE 😞 But slowly its alright 🙂 NY is really a great school if you are looking for a place where lifelong friendships will be forged 🙂 Overall if you want to dsa sports/performing arts , you must love it 🙂 As long as you love it, the tiring training shouldnt be too bothering. It only serves as a way to bond with your teammates I guess. Of course these are just my speculations so dont trust it too much 😛 I am currently in a cca in clubs and societies, joining it with the mentality that I could slack and all that but I am so wrong ;( Thats so much work etc etc but it will all turn out well 😉 Omg I am so naggy hahah I think I should stop here alrdy hehe 😉
