SST and NUSH do not take in students via robotics DSA. All students have to go thru the schools’ respective Dsa selection tests.

            Hi fellow parents,

Like to find out more abt the GAT and CRT?
            1. Are GAT and CRT separate papers or one combined paper?
            2. What is the format of the two papers? Are they fill-in the blanks or mcq questions?
            3. Where to find the sample papers online? Thanks!

              Hi,

My son took the papers when he applied for SST 2 years ago. He is now Sec 2. GAT and CRT are 2 separate papers, both are MCQ. GAT is the general paper that is used for most DSA so if you take 1 paper and they will send the results to all the schools that you applied for DSA. The GAT paper is more like general paper testing logic. The CRT is more like language paper but logic based also. My son found the CRT paper tough but he made it. If i recall correctly, you get points deduction if you get a question wrong. CRT is only required by DSA for just a few schools.

My son is Sec 2 now at SST and he has been commuting from Tampines to Dover MRT everyday. He even has friends who are from Pasir Ris. Despite the long commute, he loves it there because of the applied nature. I find that the relationship between students and teachers is very close, perhaps because of the max 25 students in the class. Their maths and science syllabus seems to be more advanced coz when my son compares with his peers from couple of other schools, he is already doing Sec 3 topics. Not sure how this compares with other top schools. I notice my son is also more confident now in public speaking as SST has many programs that require the students to speak up and present proposals to peers as well as external audiences. Overall I am happy but then again it may not be for everyone.

                    Hi AZmama,

It's so good to hear that your son enjoys the school. SST is the only school my son wants to get in! He loved the Open House last month. I could actually see his eyes light up!

Can you check with your son what the aspirants can to do to score in the GAT and CRT? Anything special that they have to focus?

                    Thanks in advance!

I asked him but he can't recall but he said there are similarities to the Pri 3 GEP test for stage 2. We did nothing to prepare him and honestly even after he sat for the paper he can't remember much...maybe boys being boys.

I think you can help prepare your child for the interview/selection camp later if he is short listed (for my son's cohort 400 were short listed but only 200 or so selected) but for the GAT/CRT not much that I can advise...sorry.

                        Thanks AZmama!

My son did the CRT & GAT Tests on Saturday. He said CRT was relatively easier while GAT was very tough! It's true, there's nothing you can really do to prep for it.

We saw approx 100+ students who gave both CRT and GAT for his test slot, so guess all must be applying for SST. I estimate close to 1500-2000 people must have applied all in total (based on the different test dates). So chances of getting in are difficult, but fingers crossed! :xedfingers: :nailbite:
