I've been donating blood 4 times a year since I was 25. I stopped for some years because I went thru 2 Caesarian Ops to deliver my 2 babies.

Now I continue to donate. I feel good after each donation because 1 bag of blood can save 3 lives. For those who think that blood donation makes you fat and are scared by all the other myths that peole say, it's not true. The blood has 3 components, the white blood cells, red blood cells and plasma which they will separate for different needs I think.

Long ago, blood donors are given a special medical benefit card where they get discount for hospitalization and medical care. They can also nominate 1 family member to be a beneficiary of the same scheme. They've done away with this scheme for many years as they don't want people to donate for these benefits. But I believe those who donate are not doing it for this.

About that couple, I don't think they are exchanging their blood for the cup of Milo and piece of cake. It's probably just a passing remark and don't mean to imply anything.

I strongly encourage all healthy individuals to donate blood. In a bad accident, sometimes the victim needs as many as 70 bags of blood.

For those people who had stayed in England for a certain period of time in the 80's, HSA has stopped them from donating about 10 years ago. They're afraid of them being mad cow disease carrier. My husband was one of them as he had lived in UK for 2 years. He was very disappointed as he was a donor since army days.

if u r serious, better to go direct to blood bank than those ‘roadshow’. From what I understand, the bloodbank will take your blood, even if u r under certain medication. But the problem I heard is that even at the blood bank, it’s quite a long wait/process.

Hubby donates whoever there is a mobile station held in his office.

I can’t donate because I am on long term medication. Otherwise I don’t mind trying.

The environment and staff there are nice!

                      Well done。

For me, it is donating something which money can’t buy and that is all.

For info, one can donate as frequent as every 3mths. But I am not that "noble" and will aim to make 2 donations per year.
