All About Life Without Maids

1 & 2. I have the Toshiba washer-dryer. (There's only 1 model available here so far.) It is front-loading (all dryers are) and what it does is it will calculate the load by weight after you press start. Then, it will display the weight via LCD and give you 1 minute to pour in the appropriate amount of detergent, etc. I presume that this means it will use less water when the load is lesser. For the bathroom mats, because I accumulate enough for one load over 3 weeks, they will be really dirty by the time I wash them so I use the Hot Mist wash which injects hot air into the tub to handle the tough stains before the mats are actually washed. I use this wash for bedlinen too. The dryer isn't that perfect cos I still get wrinkles occasionally but then, I have yet to try the Wrinkle-Free dry option. When deciding on a washer-dryer, I did consider LG cos the specs state that they have a steam function which can steam out the wrinkles for you if you're in a hurry and have no time to iron. However, LG is beyond our budget so we settled for a Toshiba. Can anyone recommend me which brand and model to buy on this few items:
1. Washing machine
(preferably front loader type, and can choose to wash with less water when the machine is not fully load e.g. when I am washing the toilet matt, etc)
2. Cloth dryer
(preferably one that doesn't cause much wrinkles on the clothes so I don't need to iron them)
4. Robotic Vacuum aka Roomba
What model to buy? Can it really save us from sweeping the floor? Will it last for many years if I get one? I am really interested on this..
5. Dish Washer
What brand and model to buy? I never used one but keen to get one. Some friends said it is not so useful, coz wasted a lot of water and we need to wait until it is full to run it. Is it true?
Please give me any reviews or comments if you use any gadgets above. :?: Thanks a lot ya...
4. Emelyn just bought one and I think skunk has one too. Maybe you can PM them for more details?
5. I can't see myself buying or using a dishwasher cos I feel that washing by hand saves time, money, water and electricity, and I don't have the space for a dishwasher. I'm also lazy to clean it. (A sink is easier to clean.) Yes, my hands are rough but they're not peeling or chapped and I'm used to it already since I started doing chores when I was a kid. DH doesn't mind anyway. I just use hand creams. -
Hi Schellen,
Thanks a lot for your reply
. I will look around for toshiba washing machine & dryer. Currently I am using an LG washing machine (top loader), and hang the cloth out to dry. But it takes up a lot of my time.. still need to cook, clean the house, take care the children, etc.. Otherwise, I am really happier now without maid (except just feel so tired at night)..
Will try to PM Skunk and Emelyn abt roomba..
Abt the dishwasher.. I never used one before, but really tempted to get one. However, I am still not sure whether I will really need it or it will become a white elephant in my house.. That's why I want to have feedback from someone who really use it. Read the reviews abt dishwasher in the internet, some said can cause flooding in the kitchen if not installed properly, the drainage system always gets problem, etc.. etc.. Hope to get some positive review here, before I go and get one..

Not much of a choice.
Maybe I choose not to manage a maid but manage the hsework and kids totally instead.
