One word: tough.I have a girl born yr 2012 , dragon year. after reading about previous posts on dragon yr babies, how tough do you forsee to get into schools, i mean average good schools?
didnt think much of dragon babies but now i am getting nervous.. thank you
If you want a bit more words: very tough.
Be prepared for some serious competition. Phase 1 will probably take away more places than usual. -
thank you floppy.

On the plus side... you are lucky because you have found the kiasu parents forum :rotflmao:thank you floppy.

There is probably still time to get yourself into one of the following:
a) grassroots
b) clan / religion
c) PV
Failing which, I see going back to your alma mater, i.e. register in phase 2A, as a safe option (unless it's one of those hot schools). -
indeed. fortunately i found this forum - lots of helpful information and advice shared by many many kind people .

To increase your chance, get a school within 1 km from your house. Alternatively, choose a school that you think you can have a better chance with, then move house to < 1 km from there. Preferably, get a school that you can register to in Phase 2B.
If the school of your choice is not a popular school, then no worries. -
thank you galaxyraider for your advice.
hubby and myself are debating wheather we should send both kids to same school (older one need to register P1 next year) so that dragon baby gets phase 1 status OR she goes to girl`s school where there is affilation to secondary school. I am thinking of applying PV for her .. but friends of mine told me do not bet on PV due to school being picky and there is no guarantee that school will choose me
is PV application that diffcult to get accepted nowdays? -
af7680:
yes. it's very hard to be accepted as a parent volunteer and even harder to chalk up minimum hours. after all the hard work and time, luck is important.

Send your older one to a coed school so that the dragon baby gets in via Phase 1. Like I said earlier, phase 1 will take away more places than usual. If you don't intend to join them, be prepared to be disadvantaged.thank you galaxyraider for your advice.

You can take a quick glance at the dragon year birthrate, competition for places is not a laughing matter. Besides the challenges in enrollment, competition for PV places, especially in popular schools, will also heat up for the dragon year. Unless you are very sure that the school will pick you, I won't bet on PV to give you a headstart in Phase 2B. -
gan eng seng seems to be a safe choice getting in (less than 1km) for the past 5 years. will it be roughly the same for dragon year kids?
