All these K2 spelling lists are truly ridiculous! I would just opt out of them if your kids can’t manage them. My daughters, ASD and NT, did not learn any spelling in kindy. They weren’t even in English school until P3/P5. They aced their spelling from that point on, even though the words then could be 3-4 syllables long. I would focus on reading rather than spelling at this age.

Ya, my wife lost. She saw how he hates spelling and ting xie now. I have always wanted him to drop chinese. The exemption letter exist for a reason! Yes, he is 2009 and I will use that exemption letter too on the first day of P1, if I get things my way. Grrr....

Er....your revised spelling list still looks difficult. As long as he does not get disenchanted, I suppose it should be ok? I revised my boy's next week spelling to snap, swim, stop, spin, small, rest. LoL! I am allergic to academic stress!

My boy got a place under Phase 1. Has phase 3 started? Ya I know that anxiety. My eldest went for ballot at 2C and didn't get selected. Keep your fingers crossed, k?

But for me, instead of choosing the 80:20 approach like ImMeeMee, I choose to drill, because, I aim for 100%.

Double E, I was like you too, aiming high. But I ended up being a tigermum and tiger wife, and that made everyone in the family unhappy. I am still moderating myself, and learning to take things a bit easier. Academics is not everything in life.

You may need to work on the classroom behaviour before worrying about spelling. Once your son can focus on the work better, spelling should come easier. My usual method for my kids was to make sure they could read and understand the words, then get them to break up into sounds or patterns. Note that phonics is helpful but may not be useful all the time. Reading well is the most important foundational skill for spelling as words they memorise blindly will be quickly forgotten.

I also observed that my girls learned spelling quite differently. My older girl (visual learner) would learn by recognising the \"look\" of the word in terms of patterns, syllables etc. My younger girl (auditory learner) would use phonics, or simply say the letters out loud and memorise them that way.

who can help to tackle classroom behaviour? Or what method to get the message across to child.

Does an occupational therapy help classroom behaviour?
1 to 1 he is able to follow.

The behaviour problem arises in class group setting.He has difficulty sitting still, pay attention and focus (short attention span and ideas change very fast - distracted). He will walked about in class when other children are sitting down listening to lesson/do worksheet.
