Each new version of windows seem to be getting worse. I just got used to the quirks of windows 8 and here we go again. Sigh.

Ah boy's laptop is on Windows 8. Recently, hubby came to know that he has not been installing the updates for I dunno what. Hubby set the laptop to do the updates which ah boy complained make the whole laptop works slower.

I dunno what to do, other than suggesting to ah boy to send the whole laptop to a service centre.

As I age, I find I cannot keep up with new technologies.

That's the point. We are not supposed to keep up with new technologies. Technologies are supposed to keep up with us humans! The problem with Microsoft is that it has spent its lifetime building technologies that we have to learn to use, and when we have become competent in the way they want us to use it, they change it again to some new quirky ways which they say is better. It might be better, but heck... we still prefer the old and more familiar ways of doing things!

It's just like how we are used to the QWERTY keyboard, even though it was specifically designed to slow down typing speed because the old typewriters couldn't handle those speeds. Now, even though modern computers don't have that problem, we all still refuse to switch to DVORAK, which would have provided us with much more efficient typing speeds. That's why when Apple came up with the iPhone and touch interfaces, the world collapsed for Microsoft. People no longer need to learn to use technology in order to use technology!

                      Welcome to Microsoft.
I've given up on Microsoft after Windows 98.
