[Bukit Timah] Primary Schools

HPPS is a GEP school, Rulang is not
Rulang really DRILLS the students, some parents say as if there is no night no day with the homework drilling the kids…my sis-in-law’s kid is there, my kids’ tuition teacher’s kid was there too - all said the same thing about Rulang. An ex-teacher of Rulang now teaching in HPPS said the same thing too. Rulang is considered the "Best" in western part of singapore with a long history -
I understand from a friend River Valley primary also drills the children with tons of homework daily. Poor child has to do a lot and worse if there is long weekend.

Hi ChiefKiasu,
Can you please give you valuable comments on this.

Hi all !
which co-ed school (along the Bukit Timah stretch) would you choose ? :?
The reason why i'm asking is cuz i have a girl and a boy and if i do decide to do PV or MOVE HOUSE near a school (haahaA), i may want to kill 2 birds with one stone and send both into the same school.. -

For Nanyang & Henry Park, there is balloting for those staying less than 1km under Phase 2C. As for Pei Hwa, balloting for those staying within
1-2km last year. Bukit Timah Primary no need balloting.
As for doing PV, there is no guarantee to be selected for Nanyang, Henry Park and Pei Hwa. -

Parents who have responded so far stay in the area, and have more intimate knowledge of the schools in that area. Their inputs are equally valuable and insightful, right?Hi ChiefKiasu,
Can you please give you valuable comments on this.

Parents have different views about primary schools. Some prefer proximity to home, while others prefer affiliation.
Son’s friend (same kindergarten) went to Catholic High as his father was from that school. They stay in Upp Bukit Timah and the boy takes a school bus at 6+ every morn.
My son is in Pei Hwa…10 min walk to school. But will register daughter for P1 in CHIJ TP (my former school). Hubby’s rationale is there is affiliated sec school. Daughter has a ‘back-up sec school’ but if she does well for her PSLE, can choose another secondary school. -

and to add to it : someone's immediate family is a big contributor financially to the school, sits on the board.....still send the kid to another school - got back up for sec school (a good sec school) ..... lolzParents have different views about primary schools. each has their own rationale -
Yup, there are many reasons.
Parents move house to stay within 1km to put son in all boys’ school…then they move to another place to put daughter in all girls’ school. Asked the mum why she didn’t put daughter back in her former school (SCGS) and she told me she prefers MGS as it is a Christian school. -
Hi all,
Need ya advise…
I just bought a unit which is < 1km to Pei Hwa
Does it guarantee a place for my boy??
Do I need to do P.V? If so, how do I go about?
(There is no application form in the sch web)
My boy is born in 2005, is it too late?
And does it matter that I am a buddhist?
Thx!
