Yes if u stay one night , u need to get the 2 day pass to come backThanks! Have surfed that site as well as Japnaese guest houses website but was hoping someone had a personal recommendation.
I only plan to stay one night, and am aware the rope way is closed, so I plan to do a cancelable booking.
Do you know if the Hakone free pass covers the Shinkansen from Odawara to Tokyo station? My next destination after hakone will be Disney. Thanks!
To shinjuku station . The free pass is not by JAPAN RAIL company , another operator , So got to pay for trian route fr shinjuku to Tokyo station -
Thanks for all the info.
I really enjoy planning for holidays, but surfing for info on Ryokans is really mindboggling!! Some f their sites are in Japanese only, and some are not clear on what each room offers.
It was only after 2-3 days of surfing that i realised some "japanese style rooms" do not come with their own toilets and have to use shared facilities. Some only offer dining in common areas (instead of inroom). -

Normally the moderate and more expensive ones have attached toilet and in-room shower. japanican is quite detailed. If you need clarification, just email them. They have always been pretty prompt in their response. Thanks for all the info.

Hi lexis! We may also plan to go Tokyo end of the year and would also like to stay a nite in ryokan in hakone. When are you going and how many days?Hi, am thinking of staying 1 Night at a Ryokan in Hakone.
Does any one have any recommendations? Looking for one with Japanese style bedding, private outdoor bath and in room dining.
Thanks!
Wanted to go Phuket originally but after the recent incident, not sure if we should go ahead. -

Thanks DNLs_mom. I saw your nick on TA too!
Yes, beginning to realise that since I prefer that kind of combination (attached bath, onsen, in room kaiseki) and my itinerary has me going on a Saturday, I have to pay through my nose for a nice ryokan! Going to 'downgrade' my other accommodation and splurge on this hehehe. :moneyflies: :moneyflies: :boogie: -

Agree. We did just that last Dec. Stayed at Toyoko inn, ryokans and 4/5 star Tokyo Hotel., all in one trip .A mix set of accommodation. :boogie: :boogie: we normally pick city hotels based on convenience and proximity to train stations and ryokans in rural or traditional towns or onsen areas. Have fun planning!

Which toyoko inn did you stay at? Was it in Tokyo? I have century southern tower booked but looking for alternatives .
Thanks! -

I have not stayed at Toyoko Inn in Tokyo. I stayed at Toyoko inn at Nagoya and Kanazawa. Both of which are a short walk from the JR train station. But my sister has stayed at Toyoko Inn at Ikebukuro. For the price, they charge Toyoko inn is super value for money and I am always happy to stay with them so long as location is right. I am super particular about hotel location. A poorly located hotel makes me waste precious time traveling to places I want to go and holiday time is so precious.Which toyoko inn did you stay at? Was it in Tokyo? In Tokyo, I have stayed at the Hotel Metropolitan Manurouchi at Toyko station. I get good corporate rates and I like its convenient location for traveling out of Tokyo on the Shinkansen.. But for my upcoming trip to Tokyo in November, I'll be staying at the Tokyo Station Hotel for the first part of my business trip and trip extension before I leave for Kawaguchiko. Tokyo Station Hotel is more expensive than the Hotel Metropolitan Manurouchi, but rooms are nicer and bigger. When I return to Tokyo, from Kawaguchiko, I have booked Sunroute Plaza at Shinjuku. I have considered Century Southern Tower too, but Sunroute is cheaper and since it is just a one night stay before we leave the next day, I decided to save some money since we already stayed at the 5 star Tokyo Station hotel earlier on. The Century Southern price is more expensive than what I would have to pay for corporate rate at Tokyo Metropolitan Manurouchi and at that price I will go back to Metropolitan which I feel is better quality and value. Just personal perception lah.
Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku's location is better than Toyoko Inn in Shinjuku which is nearer the red light district side. However, Century Southern Tower is nicer than Sunroute Plaza. You get what you pay for lah. Sunroute plaza is closer to a Toyoko Inn type quality or maybe just slightly better.
