My DS fell and his front tooth came off at age 7+.

The tooth came out complete with longish 'pointing' top.. ..
He seems to be okay and I didn't bring him to the dentist yet šŸ˜›
hi radiantmum,

I started out by bringing my kid to the dentist to extract when teeth is very wobbly....and dentist told me it's good to take it out (rather than wait). Now am just waiting for it to fall by itself cos it's getting way too expensive to make repeat visits and I was informed by someone at School Dental Service that it's ok to DIY.

DS1's teeth come out jagged and crooked. SDC dentist told me it's ok, once the others start sprouting, the teeth will correct when the new ones push against it; and the jaggedness will go away once the tooth is put to use.

So far, no dentist has recommended to have the teeth proactively taken out.
Thanks - that teeth know how to re-align certainly sounds reassuring šŸ˜„

Reminded me of DS last tooth extraction incident. I asked for the School Dentist to help to extract during days/week into his first school days (and gleefully thinking that I am saving $40 or so). Prep him on the chair & tool thingy but found out later from him that the dentist simply use a string and pull it out! Don't know to be amused or faint.

When DS1's baby teeth first sprouted, I thought they looked aligned and was very happy. then as more and more came out, it became 'senget'. Please don't worry, at least now is too early to say. Hopefully their jaws can accomodate so there wouldn't be overcrowding.

ha ha ha...string?? at least use plier lah! The dentist I go to would spray a numbing thing (DS1 hates that) and then pull out using some plier like thing. At least he never secure the string on a door knob and slam the door. šŸ˜‰

              Mummies,

Do you allow the school dentist to attend to your kids or bring them to own dentists ?

I still get the chills when I recall those days when someone brings a card to the class and call so-and-so to go and see the dentist. I will pray hard my name is not called. :dowan: 'please, don't let it be me'
My son tells me it's still the same 'style' now after so many donkey years.

Yeah, I am surprised when I learnt that there has been not much change after so many years. I have heard from some parents that some school dentists are not very gentle with the children and often cause their gums to bleed during the cleaning process. One of my boy's classmate even fell sick after the dental check-up and my boy had a terrible stomachache after his recent dental checkup - not sure if they are related, the doctor said it was a viral infection ...

Personally, I developed a phobia of visiting the dentist because of my own bad experience with the school dentist. But I subsequently realise that the private dentists out there are much more gentle and patient. Even the clinic atmosphere is a lot more relax...

But the dentists at SDC (they are the roving dentists that visit school) are very nice and patient. So far all very good.

im really surprised the dentist in school used a string! I also get my son to approach the school dentist to extract his shaky tooth, in order for me to save $$$ with our pte dentist. In the end, my son tooth needed a jab then got extracted, and when i saw the tooth.....its roots was long....no wonder its shaky and refused to drop.

can book one meh? I only know that the last dentist my kids have is a fairly old lady - very motherly, very detailed and a wee bit naggy (I like lah). Hope they can always get her during their visits. DS2 allowed her to do stuff which he didn't allow other dentists to do.

2nd last visit, one poor dentist had to manually scrap out the dirty bits before doing filling cos DS2 say cannot use drill. :!:
