      1.

      since one orange cost 2 times a pineapple
      12 orange==> 24 pineapples
      24+4=28pineapples
      4 units=>28pineapples
      1unit=> 28/4=7 pineapples
      He can buy 7 pineapples with the rest of the money.

      2.
      1 highlighter cost 3 times a marker
      highlighter $0.90 ===> marker $0.30

      Bert spent 2/5 of his money on markers and 1/3 of the remainder on a pen(i do not know why suddenly got a pen>.<so> highlighter=$0.90
      2 units===> $0.90x2=$1.80
      $1.80/ $0.30=6 markers
      Bert bought 6 markers.

        Muffins:
        Hi chanpy, the correct answer is 9 bags. As there are 4 cupcakes in each bag, 4X8=32 only, not 34, so the next number of bags would be 9! :shock: :yikes:

        Thanks for the reply. Told my gal to check again with the teacher and the answer is still 8 bags :? Guess just have to leave it..

            I am also quite sure the answer is 9… unless they throw away the last 2…

            its like if you got 5 flowers and each vase can only contain 4 flowers… you will need 2 vase not 1…

              I understand how to derive the answer for qn 1 now. However, for qn 2, can you please enlighten me why did you use :

              2 units===> $0.90x2=$1.80

              I still dun get it. 😞

                After spending 2/5 of his money on markers, he left with 3/5 of his money left. He then spend 1/3 of the remainder on a highlighter.

                So..
                1/3 * 3/5= 1/5
                so he actually spend 1/5 of his money on the highlighter.
                Since we know he spend $0.90 on highlighter, we know the amount he spend on markers is $0.90 x 2=$1.80

                Does this clear the question? 😄 😄

                      Hi again,

                      I desperately needed those model solutions provided by all the helpful parents. I am having a really hard time helping my girl with her maths paper. Please help me !!

                      When I click on the picture, it shows a cross. If I save it as "save picture as" I am not able to see it clearly at all. I only encounter this problem today.

                      Would appreciate your help. Thank you.

The amount of money Betty has is 1/4 of the total amount of money Andy, Candy and Danny have. The amount of money Candy has is 1/5 of the total amount of money Andy, Betty and Danny have. If Danny has $1725, how much do they have altogether?
