supposing the child gets full marks for LC...so what? he/she still needs to do very well in English compo and paper 2 to get that A*...constantly dwelling on which LC answer is right or wrong is not going to help things...no point getting stressed nor worried over what is already OVER. move on and think about how to make full use of the days to prepare for the REAL picture.
Once again, stop mistaking that I made this up on my own. I am just stating what wassent to my wife! Let me state my stand here. Let us say there are two pupils, X and Y. X got 18 for listening while Y got 20. Now, let me state three scenarioes.
SCENERIO A: Paper 1 and Paper 2 is extremely easy and both X and Y do well. So? Let's say both of them do so well that they got an A* for the raw score for English. Does that mean both pupils will get A*? Definitely not! Remember what you said that A* is not the raw score but the bell curve? Well, as I said earlier, most children in Singapore will probably get 18 for listening, so X might just get an A because the bell curve pulled him down. But Y can still get an A* beacause very few pupils in Singapore will get full marks for Listening!
SCENERIO B: Both paper 1 and paper 2 are of average standard, making X and Y both have average marks. This supports my stand even further. SInce both got average marks, the only thing that makes a difference in their score will be listening compre! Get me so far?
Scenerio
Both papers are extremely difficult and thus both X and Y score badly. This is similar to A since once again, going by the bell curve, Y will get his marks pulled up while X will probably get average A marks (83 and above).
I hope you can get a clearer understanding of this matter. I have no idea why we are quarreling over A's and A*'s. Let us stop talking about listening compre from this post onwards and discuss on strategy for paper 1 and 2. This is not a debate post! :itwasntme:

do you know that this year's Eng lc is the main factor to separate those who get a* and those who get a? My wife just received this news from seab -
faithfuldad123, thanks for sharing.
The kiddos will need to work hard for Paper 1 & 2, regardless of how well they have performed in the LC. -

usually, Paper 1 composition is the killer paper.
For Paper 2, usually it is Comprehension part that tend to pull down students' marks, if student fail to comprehend, analyse or interpret key points in the passage read. -
