BTW, one of their boarding programmes was inline skating, how was it? My daughter had a really bad fall and refused to talk about this inline skating course.

And boarding term is cheap too.

Inline skating - too short. Only a few sessions, right? My boy already figured out how to rollerblade at 4yo, and they had it as enrichment in p1/p2 as well, so he didn't find the njc sessions exciting enough.

Nothing much said abt the inline skating prog. Maybe it's becos my boy already knows the how-to and hv bn skating at East Coast Park.

I tried learning inline skating, finds it difficult as I could not control the heavy skates (not enough leg muscles :? ). My P3 boy also falls every now and then.

Jennifer, you need good skates. It makes a lot of difference. You mostly need thigh muscles only. I love rollerblading instead of jogging.

By the way, my niece is not sure which school ( NY / NJC ) is better for her. I advised her to try out the DSA for both and see how, but she wants an answer. After speaking to my children, she is still caught in between the two choices.

Any advice for her? She is a vibrant, cheerful and rather outspoken girl. No preference as to sec / co-ed, but sis in law prefers co-ed as she thinks gina needs to learn how to communicate with boys, but my bro in law values billingualism. She does fairly well, normally top 5 in class. So... I'm not sure what to tell her and she demands an answer!

Attend the open houses, then get a feel and decide. JMHO

Yes, heard that NJ is a mugger school ... but dont think this is happening at Junior High level. My girl in JH1 is really so happy there and enjoying school so much desspite having to get up super early every monring.

Same here. She is bonding very well with her classmates and enjoys playing frisbee with them during recess - her latest craze other than exchanging gossips about SNSD - a korean girl band with her friends.
She fell recently not from the rollerblading course but from, trying to catch a frisbee. :lol:

My girl is definitely not a mugger , though I wish she studies more at times.
She does not have a competitive streak and takes things at her own stride so I guess NJC suits her in this respect. That was one of the reasons why we put her there though she qualifies for the other top girls' schools.
Not much pressure from school work - she's having a great time and I'm so glad she's enjoying her school life, making friends and picking up new skills.

Is your daughter in solaris? I’ve heard from dd that many solaris Jh1s play frisbee at the amphi during lunch, and her class plays ball.

Gee, my son must seem like a mugger then. He often uses his break or lunch time to practice so that he doesn't have to at home (and disturb his baby brother's bedtime).

I've heard of a set of triplets (year 2s) who are in RI/HCI/NJC and they say NJC is the best among the 3. Best in what sense? Sori, dunno bc I only met briefly.

I dunno, just a thought, could it be that maybe they try to be nice only leh ...

... if they meet RI parents, they say RI is the best ......
... if they meet HCI parents, they say HCI is the best .....
... if they meet NJC parents, they say NJC is the best ...

In any case, for MdmKS info, not sure if it is useful, cut-off for 2010 entrance to HCI & NJC is the same (257) and for RI is 2 points higher (259)
