Was at Bras Basah Popular on Sat. There’s a promotion for children books - buy 2 get 1 free. The books are mostly board books, suitable for toddlers.

            mummy of 2:
            hquek:

BTW, my friend bought a winnie the pooh set in the last mph sale - it's the original WTP book (2 in 1 book comprising titles - Winnie the Pooh, and House at Pooh Corner) with \"When we were very young\" book by A.A. Milne. Both are hardcopies and in a box set and only $15. Good deal.

Wow that is a really good buy, considering that each Winnie the Pooh book is going for $28 at Popular. :celebrate:

The $15 box set is a good deal, but do note that it is a different edition from those sold for $28 at Popular. I only managed to get the \"When we were very young\" set that comes with \"Winnie the Pooh Collection\". Haven't checked what is in the Winnie the Pooh Collection. If it comprises both Winnie the Pooh and House at Pooh Corner, then I would wonder how small the wordings are.

If you are looking for 3 in ones, I would recommend to wait for mph sale. Based on past 2, there ARE titles available - Mysteries collection, Family Collection, Wishing Chair, Faraway Tree. Each going for $8 at 'list' price - the Dec sale was $5.40 after discount, this one that just past is a bit more ex at $6.30. But still cheep cheep.
I only saw the Mysteries collection and the Family Collection when I was there. Bought the Family Collection but not the Mysteries Collection as the word fonts of the latter looked very small to me. Wonder if this is always the case when it comes to 3 in 1 collection?

By the way, does anyone know how much are these 3 in 1 collections originally and could you buy them from the MPH stores? Thought I have never seen them before.

The $15 set - now I hear is actually $8 as charged. so nett, my friend paid 6.30.

Anyway, that set comprises of both Winnie the Pooh, and House at Pooh Corner. Font size is ok, didn't feel its too small (managed to cover that book with DS). The other is When we were very young book I have not yet touched.

I had just read \"What the Dogs saw\" by Malcolm Gladwell...in large print. Can faint cos the large print made the book very big and cumbersome. But then loan from library, shall not quibble with size.

Have to be there early lah. 😉

Font size I thought is about the same as other Enid Blyton hardcovers? Just the book is 3x fatter?

I think I saw it's $18 in MPH, I saw one set at Esso station retailing at $14.

Not sure, between the Mysteries collection and the Family collection, I notice a difference in the font size, hence only bought the Family collection but not the Mysteries collection. Don't want DD to blind her eyes reading fonts that are too small, she is the once started cannot put the book down type.

Oh! I must go back and check the font size. Yah, agree that some care should be taken in evaluating font size. My LOTR (3 in 1), the font size is quite challenging.

DS1 read books and play ipod touch games so closely....we do fret about his eyesight. Told him must take break and see faraway things for 1 min after every once in a while - he does that in my presence, but then when I not around... 😞

Not sure how much we paid for the box set... Anyway, I suspect the collection probably comprise both Winnie the Pooh and House at Pooh Corner. When we were very young is actually more a collection of poems and verses. I am just surprised cos' we have the version bought at popular, and each separate book for Winnie the Pooh and House at Pooh is almost as thick as the one in the box set.
