Raffles Girls' Primary

hi phtthp,
if this common banding system is implemented, per your post... affiliation will need to go.
RGPS is, not affiliated to RGS. thus how would the system impact the lower primary students wef 2016 (regardless which cohort is chosen to be on trial)??
would there be impact to existing DSA to RGS for RGPS students?? :lightrod:

Hi! Can I check, currently are the p2s and above attending remedial lessons? Are all students expected to attend, or these lessons are arranged for certain students who need coaching in certain subjects? Am wondering how many days my girl needs to stay till 5pm next year as I just received the bus form. Assuming if she can get into a cca and stay in school from 3-5pm for her cca, does she have to stay other days for remedial classes?

now 2015 Term 4, too soon to know who need to attend re-medial.
No, not all students need to attend re-medial.
Re-medial meant for students weak in certain subject (P3 to P6)
Next year during 2016 Term 1, certain / some (P3 to P6) parents will be notified through email, to let their kid attend re-medial, after identifying who they are, based on 2015 Term 4 November Year end results, and also based on next year Term 1 progress
for P2 and P1 :
called LSP (Learning Support program), not called re-medial, different terminology.
for current 2015 P2 batch : no pupil need to attend LSP
today is Term 4 week 5
next week : 4 days of psle marking days
While P6 students resting at home, P2 to P5 level students stay at home prepare for SA2 EOY exam, take place immediately the following week.
last 5 weeks left, then sayorana :imanisland: \"Mount Sinai, Ghim Moh\" -
Thank you PHTTHP for the info
Trying to arrange her external classes to weekdays after sch in the mid-afternoon, so I need to know what time she can leave the sch.
Time really flies, it's nearing the end of the year! -
P2 don’t have re-medial.
as for Learning Support (LSP) for P2 :
for our school, usually very few kids identified, to attend LSP.
some batch(es) : zero pupil identified
if no LSP, means can go home immediately after school dismissed daily (Mon - Fri) at 1.30 pm, unless happen to be a Cca day, then maybe go library read storybooks or do own homework quietly at library from (2 to 3 pm), before Cca start at (3 pm, end at 5 pm).
But, if everyone has this same idea of making use of the library to spend time do homework, then one can expect library to be very packed.
But then, apart from going to the library, where else can the kids go to during that one hour, while awaiting for 3 pm Cca to start ?
did you all think of other possible places, besides the library (going to be very crowded) ? -
Hi fellow parents,
Instead of let 2016 CCA start at 3 pm, perhaps we can petition to school, request to start CCA at 2 pm ?
Since kids have no where to go (library so cramp : accommodate 6 level from P1 to P6) and some kids are playful, don’t do homework in school, might as well let them start CCA earlier, at 2 pm instead of 3 pm, then can go back earlier 1 hour, so as not to waste precious time. -
I guess they are thinking the girls may not have enough time to eat and digest their food if they were to start their ccas at 2pm. Sch dismissal 130pm, only have 1/2 hour to eat if cca starts at 2pm, and no time to digest their food which can be bad for girls taking part in sports ccas.

Can the kids stay in their classrooms and do homework after class? Is it allowed?
-
Not allowed.
P said no student allowed to enter classroom, after 1.30 pm school dismissal, without Teacher's supervision.
She said students can either go library, or go canteen, while awaiting CCA to start 3 pm.
So for students, from 2 pm to 3 pm, who are
- Not selected to attend any enrichment, nor any \"stretch\" class,
- Not selected to attend any remedial class,
- Not selected to attend any extra lesson,
can either go air-con library, or stay in canteen, do your own homework.
Library is the only place with air con to go
(canteen is noisy, students eating, chit chat & warm) -
Thanks for the info, phtthp. My kid will start P1 next year. I’m not familiar with primary school’s rules yet. I can just hope the new campus has a huge library…
