Hi just asking, have you all decided on the sec school your DD or ds will be going? I am staying at Tampines. Any suggestion of good sec school nearby?

My ds marks are around this range at P5.

      El 80, Maths 85, CL 85 and Science 80

I thought i was the only one worrying about this.... prematurely

I have been thinking about this because 1) no affiliation 2) no good schools near home 3) we are far away from everywhere else 4) inaccessibility - I have only 3 bus services here - 1 which is a loop service. 1 goes to the next town next door. And 1 that travels to the north via expressway. Bus interval -20 mins wait.

I don't even know how to choose a decent school which is within reasonable travelling time 🤷

Any possibility of moving house if ur place is inaccessible? If not, u might need to consider sending ur kids to school.
Unfortunately, moving is not an option for us.

Been checking the bus services/mrt stations around the area of some of the schools..
My dd will have to take transport from our place to the mrt station, make 2 mrt transfers ( total 3 different mrt lines), then make her way to school on foot if school is near mrt station, if not, it will be another bus trip. I cannot imagine the time she will spend on travelling (waiting + journey) :faint:

        oral & compo DOWN :rahrah:

2013 for school's past year papers are given as homework on top of home-based learning next week. only 2 weeks more of exam fever.
School did not issue homework for the break..
6 more days of exam 😓

Hi nicnac. Sometimes in life we just have to make compromises and settle for the lesser of two undesirable outcomes. All that travelling would definitely take it out of your daughter. Children spend a lot more time in secondary school with CCAs and the like. You do not want your daughter carrying a heavy school bag during the evening rush hours on her marathon journey home. If you have to opt for a less than ideal choice for a secondary school but with the advantage of being much nearer to home then I would go for it in preference to a slightly better school that is much farther away. Just my five dollars' worth...

Lucky you...all my work has to be cut into half to fit in homework + home based. Paper 2 starts end oct.

Would like to know is there going to be another big jump from p5 to p6? or p5 results are a good indication of yr psle results? My ds marks were quite stable the past 3 terms. Tia.

Actually I do not mind if school gives past yr papers as hw. Think it is good for revision. My concern is the papers are not marked. Then no point doing it since u won’t know if yr answer is correct or not. I saw 2 sets of ca2 papers inside my ds bag. It was not marked. If the teacher is too busy to mark, the least that he/she can do is to go over the answers with the class & get the kids to mark themselves.

p5 to p6 is almost psle...short of few topics more for MT, Math and Science...but English is same for P5 but add about 40% difficulty.

                    Hi Janet

Thanks. When will the kids start to do revision? I heard some said in June & some said after March can start because the school should hv finish teaching everything in March.

                      Hi nicnac

I have heard of a girl who opt for a better school but long traveling time. She fainted in the mrt. But my neighbor’s dd is tough. Fr woodlands to boon lay. Sports cca & 3rd Lang at Bishan after school. She reaches home between 8-9pm at least 3 days in a week. Then another friend, his t-score can get into catholic high, but he chose a school near his place. Can take feeder or walk for less than 15 min. He reaches home in the late afternoon & will take a nap before dinner. And teachers are good to him because he is in the top 5 in the top class.

when school reopens, teachers will go full steam to finish syllabus...probably slow down near CNY and then upwards again. revision for topics taught in p4/5 can start anytime to make sure they don't forget. can't remember exactly when all the topics will be completed...varies among schools.
