      Hi there,
Does anyone have any experience or comments with MMI Katong (CHAMPZ SCHOOL HOUSE PTE. LTD). We are moving back to Singapore from Denmark and I'm checking out on day care for my 2 daughters whom is 21mths and 5mths now. The area that I'm looking for is around Amber Road

Are you refering to the one in Katong Shopping Complex? I checked out the place before. Interesting how you can drive up the building all the way up to the roof and just outside the school. Principal is very friendly and professional - knows how to handle kids. Staff are generally friendly but a bit reserved. The place is fully air-conditioned and clean, but could be noisy since it is essentially one big hall with low partitions. Play area is tidy, with the Montessori material clearly labeled and placed in little boxes. I also liked the way the reception area separates the entire place from the outside world, creating a secure buffer.

                hi kaitlynangelica,

Does MOE registered Montessori school structured with their cirriculum? I'm not sure if the school is.

                Hi vfong,

Not sure what your question means. But what my daughter's school does is 2 hours of regular MOE curriculum daily followed by one hour of montessori where mathematics and phonics is blended in.

Where is your child currently attending?

                Hi,

Learning Seeds CDC also conduct partial montessori & regular MOE curriculum daily http://learningseedscdc.com/

One of montessori's strength is the language and mathematics materials that Dr Maria Montessori developed. You can be assured that if your child goes to an authentic montessori school that he or she would excel in these areas.

In learning language - it comprises learning the letter sounds, writing, phonetic reading and word-building (spelling), long vowel sounds (phonograms) and later on simple grammar.

In mathematics - children are taught from numbers 1-10, 11,-19, 20-100, to even thousands where they do addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Depending on the schools, some have materials to teach fraction, time, money.

                        Hi koko51sg,

Can you share with me how to differentiate an "authentic" montessori school vs one which is not? i’m still trying to find a good one in the west. If you know of any, would love to hear from you!

                        Cheers!
