They do have the P1 in the scout group, if they have older sibling in there as well. Understand from the scout master that they will assess whether the child is able to take instruction and follow them before allowing them to join. The other possibility is that the child has external training and are good in those CCA.
      Thanks TwaTau!

That's a consolation - i was worried that my kid will have to do CCA on top of the regular schooling hours!

Do u know if the school has catering service for P1 recess?
Heard that some schools have it, and i thot it was a good idea.

If not, then i'll have to start training my son fast!

      Thanks again!

According to my DS, they don’t have catering services there. During the orientation week, the P5 will guide the P1 around and that includes buying food from the canteen stalls. But if your child is in childcare, they usually will role play them to buy food nearer the end of the year. I know my kids childcare did that for them.

As for the CCA, it is not compulsory for P1. And CCA typically starts at P3 for most schools, unless your child has special talent that the school wants to bring it to national level.

          Recess
weird, my P1 son told me that P2 Kids will buddy with the P1s and bring them to buy food during recess time. As only P1 and P2 are in the afternoon session.

          CCA
Yes, not compulsory for P1. But the P1 kids are encourage to have a CCA. This could be badminton, tennis, table tennis, arts club etc. can check the school website. There's ECCA too which is optional and payable.

I don't mind my son taking up a CCA, only if he is interested in it, and not something that the school imposes!

Good that there is a recess buddy, but shucks ... the catering service would have been excellent. 🙂

Oops, probably my DS gave me the wrong information. Well, he is P5 and was providing guidance to the P4 GEP in their first week. Probably he infer from there.

Hi Henry Park parents, any of you know of a good chinese enrichment centre near to Holland or Clementi? Prefer small group intimate classes by ex-teachers (preferably). For primary 5 chinese compo classes. Grateful for any tips. Thanks.

Hi I am not a HPPS parent, but I stay near HPPS hee... Maybe u can consider Eduplus at Ulu Pandan CC? My dd and a niece (who happens to be studying in HPPS) are taking chinese enrichment classes there on weekends. They are in P2 and P3 currently.

Thanks alot, Luanee, for your recommendation. I enrolled my daughter in Eduplus previously…many years ago. But I find the standard there quite high. At that time, my daughter was in kindergarten and couldn’t understand what was going on. Maybe I should try to ask them again. Thanks again, Luanee.

                        leeven:

intending to register my son for P3 GEP. FT WORKING. Is there any after school care (walkable distance ) from Henry park.

Hi leeven, there is one at Ghim Moh community club (or maybe it's called Ulu Pandan Community Club) . If you want to walk, it will take about 10 - 15 min. Many children staying around that area walk to and from school. But if it rains, it will be tougher, cos' there isn't any shelter walkway, so need an umbrella.

                        hope this helps.

Or the child could just take 92. it stops at the bus terminal and it is like 25m from the CC. It is pretty crowded and the bus frequency is quite low. But I suppose there are not many in the PM session taking the bus on their own so the child should not face the problem. But to be on the safe side, and to fufill your duty as a kiasu parent, check it out. 😄
